Advanced Divers will enjoy Thunderbolt reef which starts at Cape Recife and reaches out close to Shelley Beach. Large Boulders, deep furrows and drop offs make this an exciting area to explore with such a vast variety of marine life to see. The reef got its name from HMS Thunderbolt who smashed into the reef in 1847.

Starting at 16 meters in depth and stretching to a whopping 30 meters this reef has so much to offer. Expect to see a range of Soft and Hard Corals, Seafans, Basket Starts and the Pink Noble Corals. Silvertip Nudibranchs can be spotted along with Grey Spiky Tube Sponges, White Mushroom Ascidians, Dwarf Spotted Anemones, Bluebell Tunicate and many more.
