About Dive Scotsman's Reef
If you are looking for an adventurous dive and a fantastic place to get some phenomenal photographs then look no further. Scotsman’s Reef (aptly named after the large fish often seen by divers in the area) is a fascinating reef reaching 21 meters in depth, with a long sand bottomed gully and a wall with a straight 10 meter drop.
Explore the gully or the top of the reef and discover a world unknown. Redbait pods flourish on the reef as do Sponges such as the Vagabond, Orange Wall and White Tube to name but a few. The common Octopus can be found hiding amongst the rocks and a couple smaller sharks such as the Brown Shy Shark, Pyjama Catshark, Leopard Catshark and the Lesser Sandshark are often seen lurking around.
A spectacular variety of Nudibranchs, Anemones and Corals make this reef colourful and very attractive. Don’t forget to keep your eye out for the Cape Knifejaws, Miss Lucy’s and of course the famous Scotsman’s while swimming through.
