Most of the best guesthouse and hotel accommodation in Port Elizabeth is conveniently perched on its stunning beachfront. The beaches of Port Elizabeth are famous for their long sandy stretches and warm water that is irresistible for swimming, surfing, and stand-up paddling. But, the beachfront has another exciting feature – the traders that line the promenade every weekend and during the summer holidays.

For a fantastic day out and some excellent bargain finds, stroll along the promenade and see the variety on offer at these stalls. The traders flank the promenade all the way from Kings Beach to the famous McArthur Pool & Leisure Centre. The many stalls showcase a variety of jewellery, clothing, accessories, ornaments, arts, African crafts, pre-loved books, used goodies, and trinkets. There are also many food stalls, which include sweets and treats that are always a hit with little ones after a sugar-rush.
Along the way, there are play areas with exciting equipment, and spots to sit down and take in the vibe of the PE beachfront. McArthur’s has a number of swimming pools and slides for hot summer days.

The traders are in Humewood, which is only 10 minutes from the airport, and between five and 20 minutes from most of PE’s best malls and restaurants. The beachfront traders feature in visitors’ favourite summer holiday memories and endless beach days. They are part of the PE experience.
