The administrative capital of Namaqualand, Springbok was developed after the discovery of copper in 1850, and the town retains vestiges of the miners' lifestyle of the early days. The synagogue, completed in 1929, is now a museum. A small hill known as Monument Koppie in the centre of town is surrounded by Anglo-Boer War monuments. The Anglican Church houses the Regional Information Centre. South and north of Springbok, the N7 leads through a region renowned for its spring flowers.... [continued]
