DESCRIPTION:

Tshukudu Tented Camp is situated close to Hoedspruit and near the Blyde River Canyon and Kruger National Park on a 5000 ha private game reserve with a beautiful view of the Drakensberg Mountains.

The Sussens family has developed a reputation for raising and rehabilitating orphaned animals back into the wild. Various lion cubs as well as Savannah the cheetah have been constant companions over the years during the morning walks, making it an experience never to be forgotten.

The camp provides excellent game viewing opportunities of the Big 5 in their natural habitat from a 4x4 game drive vehicle as well as close encounters with the orphaned animals. An experience of a lifetime in this small, intimate camp as well as the unparalleled hospitality of Chris and Vicky Sussens is sure to make you return again and again and again.

ACCOMMODATION


Accommodation at the camp consists of 3 luxury, African style safari tents with bathrooms en-suite and 3 air-conditioned thatched cottages sleeping 12 guests in total. Guests of all ages are welcome. The camp also has an indoor lounge and dining room as well as a fully equipped kitchen. The friendly staff will provide a fire in the traditional African Boma for your evening meal.

The camp is fully serviced and all linen, towels and a limited amount of firewood is provided. You only need to bring your own food, drinks and towels used for swimming. Experience the sounds of the bushveld and observe wildlife at the waterhole from the pool or the veranda of your tent or cottage.

ACTIVITIES


An experienced ranger will take you on an early morning bush walk with orphaned animals or a late afternoon game drive encountering all of the Big 5 as well as various bird species and antelope.

Additional activities available in the vicinity can also be arranged at an additional cost.

LOCATION


Guests can travel the 5 hour drive from Johannesburg by vehicle or alternatively airport transfers from either Hoedspruit Airport, Phalaborwa Airport or Nelspruit Airport can be arranged at additional cost.

DIRECTIONS:

From Johannesburg
From Johannesburg we recommend taking the N12 to Witbank, then the N4 to Belfast. From Belfast take the R540 to Dullstroom, then from there the R540 to Lydenburg. Once at Lydenburg take the R36 up to the Strydom Tunnel. After the Strydom Tunnel take the R527 through Hoedspruit. At the T-junction with the R40 turn left towards Phalaborwa. Tshukudu is situated 5 km from the T-junction on the right hand side. The thatched entranceway is signposted.

From Phalaborwa
From Phalaborwa take the R40 to Mica and then follow the R40 southbound. Tshukudu is situated +/- 20 km after Mica on the left hand side and 5 km before Hoedspruit. The thatched entranceway is signposted.
