MY MOST MEMORABLE HOLIDAY

Have you ever hit a dead end in you relationship and tried almost everything to create that spark again. I have, and one day it crossed my mind a memorable trip away from home could be just what is needed to grasp that dying flame once more.

I will never forget the way I felt when I thought that I had lost the man I love, until the day I made that booking, a booking I will never regret. The Ranch Hotel captured my every being. Firstly I had to lie to my partner and had to tell him that I won the trip just to get him there. The age differences between the two of us is so huge that I requested from all staff members at the Ranch Hotel not to stare surprisingly and to welcome us as a couple.

Before arrival I contacted to the Ranch Hotel to make sure that these instructions were sent out to all staff. I spoke to a man whom I at first thought was at the reception only to find out that they put me through to the owner. He was so welcoming and so kind. I explained to him that I had to save my relationship, which he understood and without hesitating he prepared for the chalet to have roses on the bed, candles and little other extras.

This was like a dream come true; upon arrival we checked in and had the loveliest dinner in a beautiful, romantic restaurant. We then were escorted to our chalet, I could not believe my eyes, and this was perfect.

Then 15 minutes later a knock at the door, guess what? The owner had just sent me a complimentary bottle of wine and of my choice may I add. Thereafter things just got better and more loving.

The evening was well let me just say it was the greatest. The following day we went out played tennis and decided to go on a game drive. This was a wonderful experience for both of us we laughed, we could have cried when we entered the lions cage but there were to many people around. We enjoyed this experience more than anything else, okay maybe not as much as the night before, our stay was filled with different adventures and the most friendly and warm staff members.

We later took a drive out to the Sudwala Caves, scary but again what could be better then exploring and gaining back that spark at the same time. If it were not for the places and the wonderful people we en-counted. I would not be with the man I love.

I never in my wildest dreams thought that you could create so many wonderful memories right here in South Africa, ever since then, I set myself short term goals to at least see a few places every few months.

The most amazing thing was that this costs me close to nothing but what it has given me is everything I could want and more.

The hospitality of the staff, the beautiful animals and so many wonderful activities, the place away from home, and heart that you leave behind. I cried when I left, for the first time in my life a holiday meant something to me and saved the biggest part of me.

My dream now is to see as many locations in South Africa as possible especially the hidden one’s, there are so many and I often hear people talking about where they should go to for a weekend or a holiday, and yet we have it all.

The Ranch Hotel will always be a part of me.
