 If you ever
get the opportunity to visit Cape Town in South Africa just KNOW that you are in for a
wonderful surprise. The brilliance of the clouds descending over the very appropriately
named 'Table Mountain' looks like an exquisite smoky table cloth, rolling over the top and
down the sides of the mountain.
And the experience on the cable car to look at the view from the top is simply breath
taking. I believe the island that housed Nelson Mandela can be seen right from this very
spot!
The sweet little town of Seapoint is where I stayed and there were many restaurants and
stores to visit. One particular restaurant was literally over the ocean and you could look
down at the waves crashing against the rocks as you sampled their wonderful cocktails. If
there is one thing you simply have to see in your life it is a true 'South African'
sunset, the magnificent reds and oranges and pinks simply blew me away as I sat on a bench
watching the sun go down over the ocean, I have travelled extensively in my lifetime, yet
never quite experienced a sunset like this any where else in the world.
In Stellenbosch you can see acres of fields of vines, where they make some of the finest
South African wine, I have ever tasted. There are many wine tasting events for you to
choose from, so just a sip of each one will be sufficient !
And of course, it just would not be a trip to South Africa without a trip to the wild outback of a National Park,
to witness the wonders of seeing wildlife living in their natural environment. I went to
Sun city and stayed in an amazing hotel, with a fantastic casino for entertainment, then
off the next day on a wild adventure in a jeep, complete with a driver and a gun for
protection. (just in case!). I have to say, watching lions hunting their pray certainly
gets the adrenaline pumping! Watching giraffes roaming wildly eating from the trees, deer
and buffalo stampeding across the plains, knowing they are simply free to roam as they
please is a wonderful experience compared to your local zoo.
If I could recommend anywhere in the world to go on a holiday it would be Cape Town. It
has the bustle and hustle of a modern town, with malls and nightlife in abundance, it has
areas of countryside that takes your breath away and winding roads that bend around
mountains, that are only fit for the perfect Car Advert. (see Chapmans Peak).
The beaches are out of this world and the weather is simply gorgeous. They have a
wonderful area to eat, drink and socialise called Fisherman's wharf, where you can watch
the boats in the harbour and possibly an exciting boat race or two. It really is the most
beautiful and captivating town, that I have ever visited and I have some of the most
wonderful memories that will stay with me forever. If you ever get the chance to go, take
it! You will be very glad you did! |
