DESCRIPTION:
Greatbatch Guest House & Backpackers is situated on the Belgravia historic route and is close to shops, restaurants, pubs and museums. Greatbatch is named after the legendary architect of the turn of the previous century, Daniel Westwood Greatbatch; this house was designed by him as his residence.
ACCOMMODATION
Greatbatch Guest House offers a choice of 6 double rooms. They are each fitted with a kettle and coffee and tea is available. Three of these double rooms are stand alone flats from the house and have ceiling fans installed. They are each equipped with a bar fridge, microwave oven and colour TV.
The Topaz room is a flat let with its own bathroom. The other two flats are called Emerald 1 & 2 and share a bathroom and toilet. The three rooms inside the house are, as is the house itself, named after some great architects. Each room is fitted with a kettle and coffee and tea is available and has an air-conditioner fitted.
Rogers room is a luxury en-suite room with a Queen size bed and overlooks the pool and lapa area. It is equipped with a colour DSTV and bar fridge. Timlin room has two three-quarter beds and an outside door to the garden. It is equipped with a colour DSTV and its bathroom is opposite the room. Stent room is a luxury en-suite room and overlooks the pool and lapa area. Equipped with an old Kimberley time brass and copper bed and colour DSTV.
FACILITIES
Our formal lounge is decorated with old photos and equipped with books on Greatbatch and the history of Kimberley. It is a typical Victorian room with a fireplace and cosy veranda. Our TV room is comfortably big and also has a DVD player for your comfort.
Our dining room has a very large old dining room table and has place for 10 guests at a time.
Our fully equipped kitchen is spacious and is self help or meals are available on request. Two fridges are available for the use of the guests.
Our games room is spacious and is equipped with a bar and has a pool table. It also has our internet corner which is separated by a divider. The room is equipped with a ceiling fan.
BACKPACKERS DORM
Our dormitory is divided in two parts to cater for ladies and gents separately. It can sleep 18 people in total and has an ablution facility with two showers and two toilets. The theme of the dormitory is “Diggers den” and takes you back in time with the old notices and other items out of the Mining industry of yester year.
OUTDOORS
Outside, our large garden has plenty of space for you to soak up some rays near our swimming pool. There is a lapa with a built in braai and bench tables to just sit and chat or enjoy a couple of cold beers under. We also have a great bonfire area (boma) where you can enjoy the early (or late) evening. We let the mood and our guests decide whether it will be a lively or quiet night, either way we will do our best to ensure that you get what you want! |

DIRECTIONS:
From Cape Town
Follow the N12 (North bound) into town in Memorial road. At the 1st traffic light turn right into McDougal street and carry on to the T junction. Turn left into Oliver street and continue for 1km past shopping centre before turning right into Carrington road at the road sign “Memorial road area”. Continue over 2 stop streets. Cross the traffic light at Dutoitspan road, the road name changes to Egerton road. Greatbatch is the first house on the left hand side right next to the famous Halfway house.
From the airport
Follow the N 8 into town. It becomes Oliver road. Continue for 1 km past the shopping centre. Turn right into Carrington road at the road sign “Memorial road area”. Continue over 2 stop streets. Cross the traffic light at Dutoitspan road, the road name changes to Egerton road. Greatbatch is the first house on the left hand side right next to the famous Halfway hotel.
From Johannesburg
Follow the N12 (South bound) into town. It becomes Transvaal road. Continue following this road to the 3rd traffic light and turn left into Quinn street opposite Leon’s discount liquor. Follow this road, cross over a stop street and continue till the name changes to Dutoitspan road at the 2nd traffic light. Continue in Dutoitspan road over 2 traffic lights and turn left at the 3rd traffic light into Egerton road. Greatbatch is the first house on the left hand side right next to the famous Halfway hotel.
