DESCRIPTION:

Zizi Estate in Dullstroom is a private lodge situated on 600 acres of countryside in the heart of the magnificent South Africa Highlands of Mpumalanga. Only two and half hours drive from Johannesburg, the estate offers tranquillity and privacy with fly-fishing on three exclusive-use dams.

At the back of the property the hill rises to a small pine forest, which is ideal for a stroll or a picnic amongst prolific bird life. For a weekend of relaxation and pleasure, nothing compares with the Zizi experience. Zizi is also the perfect night stopover to and from Johannesburg International Airport to the Kruger National Park. Bespoke tour operators and their guides and drivers welcome with international guests and will be assured of international standards and warm South African hospitality.

ACCOMMODATION


Each bedroom of the Lodge has been individually styled with warm colours to create a tranquil elegance. The Lodge has 3 double and one twin bedroom all en-suite with ball and claw bathtubs. Additionally each bedroom has an outside shower. The Lodge kitchen is fully equipped and on electricity. A Weber barbeque is part of the equipment. Meals can be taken at the handsome dining-room table or on the veranda overlooking the magnificent garden and meadow, which lead down to the dams and stream. The Lodge sleeps eight.

DINING


Not only are you and your party the only guests on the Estate when you visit Zizi but Zizi employs a Cordon Bleu Chef and Sous Chef as your personal, on-site chefs to create extremely memorable food adventures for you - special occasions, day picnics, four course formal dinners, decadent afternoon high teas, fabulous breakfasts – enjoy the indulgence of having superb food and wine of your choice.

TROUT FISHING


Zizi dams are restocked regularly with brown and rainbow trout and the bag is one fish per fisherman per day. All additional fish are on a catch and release basis. Rods and nets are available onsite. There is 800 metres of stream for wild trout fishing - these are a catch and release bases only. Master fly fishermen are available on request to give one-on-one lessons at the dams.

ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES


The village of Dullstroom is 12kms from Zizi, and offers additional attractions such as hiking tours, a tour of village historical buildings and trees, clay pigeon shooting and riding. All can be booked through Dullstroom information offices. Dullstroom (15 minutes drive from ZiZi) also has charming antique shops, gift shops, delicatessens, a supermarket, an excellent bottle store and great restaurants and pubs.

Zizi has an exclusive Boer concentration camp tour in the local area and, astronomy evenings at Zizi on request. The tour is led by a re-nown historical raconteur who is an ex-Sandhurst military officer himself. The Concentration camps where 20 000 children and 6 000 women died, are a sad reminder of the British – Boer conflicts in the area. Astronomy evenings are fun and show off the brilliant Southern hemisphere night skies. Prior booking required.

DIRECTIONS:

From OR Tambo International Airport
From Johannesburg International Airport take the R21 to Boksburg. Take the second turn left which is the N12 to Witbank. Alternately take the R21 to Pretoria and then the N4 from Pretoria, direction Nelspruit.

Pass Witbank and Middelburg. (The Ultra City is your landmark, one hour away from Dullstroom.) You will go through a toll gate. From the N4, turn Left into Belfast and after 2 km, at the Toyota Garage, turn Right to Dullstroom. Travel for approximately 35 km.

In Dullstroom, turn left into Gunning Street at Harries Pancakes. At the stop sign, the Stone Church on your right, turn left into Slachtersnek Street. Cross the railway line and at the T-junction, take the Tonteldoos road to your right. Travel on a dirt road for approx. 11,5 km and turn left at the gate to Zizi Lodge. Zizi's three trout dams will be visible from the road. Travel down the lane of oak trees to the Lodge. To maintain Zizi's exclusivity, entrance to the Estate is by prior appointment ONLY.
