The park is home to an impressive number of species, has an amazing 16 different ecosystems, and ranks as a prime Big Five game viewing area.
Accommodation
Rhino Post Safari Lodge:
Stilts raise the 8 spaciously appointed suites from the riverbank allowing guests to view the Mutlumuvi riverbed with ease from the bedroom, bathroom and private wooden deck. The suites are set out in an open plan style with wooden floors, thatched roofs, canvas walls and an overhead fan. Each ensuite bathroom includes a deep, freestanding bath, ‘his and hers’ basins, a separate toilet and an outdoor shower protected by thick reed poles. The bathroom floor is attractively decorated with delicate mosaic designs complimenting the contemporary floor. All the suites have mini-bars and telephones linked to all areas. Air-conditioning in Dining area & one double suite.
Built using natural materials of stone, wood, thatch & canvas, the utmost care was taken to minimise the environmental impact of the lodge, and to that end, no concrete was used in the building’s foundations. Careful consideration was taken in the layout of the camp, battery power is used for lighting, special indigenous Reedbed System processes the bathroom waste, and other waste is sorted and recycled wherever possible.
Plains Camp:
Plains Camp offers 4 comfortably furnished African explorer style tents, en suite with hot running water and all the comforts of home with the African Wilderness on your doorstep. Built in authentic pioneer tradition, it has the serenity of a 19th century naturalists rest, nestled in an Acacia Knobthorn thicket. A generator and a back-up battery system power overhead fans and 24 hour lighting. The generator system can be used to re-charge camera batteries at specific times. Communal Lounge & Dining Area with outside fireplace. Active waterhole. Overhead fans in all tents. 8 guests per walking trail. 2 armed rangers per walking trail.
Sleep Outs:
'Sleep Outs' are on elevated wooden platforms. This is the only place in the Kruger National Park offering this unusual accommodation. Guests will enjoy sounds and senses heightened as they share the wilderness at night, while being safely guarded by our observant guides. The rumble of the elephant passing by or the roar of the lion at the nearby waterhole, are the only noises that might disturb guests in this peaceful wilderness. Guests will arrive on foot at the platforms in the early evening carrying a lightweight rucksack containing a change of clothes and refreshments. After hanging up mosquito net tents, sundowners can be enjoyed on the platforms overlooking a waterhole. There are 2 bathrooms with hot showers and flushing toilets. 8 guests per Sleep Out and 2 armed guards.
Night Drives
Rhino Walking Safaris also has exclusive use of some of the Kruger National Park’s public roads for evening game drives, well after gate closing times (sunset), ensuring guests an unforgettable experience. Highly qualified guides share their wealth of bush knowledge with you - from the identification of animals, trees, grasses, insects and birds to the medicinal uses of plants, folklore and basic tracking and survival skills.

DIRECTIONS:
Recommended route from Johannesburg / Pretoria
Take the N12 / N4 highway to Nelspruit. From Nelspruit, take the R40 through White River and onto Hazyview. At Hazyview turn right onto the R536 towards Paul Kruger Gate, Kruger National Park. Once
through the gate, drive straight (on the H11) for approximately 12km. You will reach a four-way crossing (do not take the left turning to Skukuza Camp unless you want to do some shopping, see the camp, have rest break or you have some spare time). Proceed straight for another 2km until you reach a T-junction. Turn left at this junction, cross the low water bridge over the Sabi River and continue for approximately
1km until you reach another four-way crossing, where you turn right (onto the H1-2). Approximately 4km later you will cross the Sand River. Again, keep heading straight and approximately 1km after the second
Maroela Loop turning, you will see a dirt road on the left, signposted “Rhino Walking Safaris”. Turn left and proceed for 2.5km. The road will then turn sharply left, with Rhino Post Safari Lodge a further 2.7km on.

Guests who know in advance that they will be unable to make the gate 45-minutes before closing time can arrive as late as 7pm.
