AccommodationThe historic homestead, built in 1915, has been lovingly restored to its former splendour by the owners, Cor and Dineke Ehlers. Modern venues can never compete with the atmosphere created by Poplar Grove's lofty dimensions, pressed-steel ceilings, Oregon pine floors, grand fireplaces and its rose, herb and vegetable gardens. The original 19th century homestead, built of local stone and yellowwood beams brought from the Eastern Cape in the 1870s, has survived the Anglo-Boer war and is now also being restored. Breakfast & DiningBed and breakfast clients are served five-star breakfasts in the main homestead; dinner is available on request. DIRECTIONS: From Johannesburg Follow N17 to Secunda / Trichardt. From Trichardt, follow N17 towards Bethal for 15 kilometres. Turn right at the road sign indicating Baanbreker (gravel road). Follow signs to Poplar Grove. Cross the railway line; Poplar Grove's entrance is on your left-hand side. From Ermelo / Bethal Follow N17 towards Trichardt / Secunda. From Bethal, follow N17 towards Trichardt / Secunda for 10 kilometres; turn left at the road sign indicating Baanbreker(gravel road). Follow signs to Poplar Grove.
