Only 2½ hours from Gauteng, situated near the village of Dullstroom, Komati Gorge Lodge is a convenient stop over point from either Gauteng or KwaZulu Natal en-route to the Kruger National Park. However, to really appreciate the beauty of the surroundings and to experience Africa at its best, a 2 night stay at Komati Gorge Lodge is recommended.

DIRECTIONS:
Coming via Carolina
Proceed on the N4 past Witbank and Middleburg then look out for the Arnot PowerStation sign. The turnoff to Carolina is a few km further. Turn right
Proceed to the second stop street in town. There is a BP garage on your left. Turn left into Kerk straat. It becomes the R36 to Machadodorp.
After 25km look out for the Doornkop sign and the Komati Gorge sign then turn right.
Follow instructions from when you turn onto the dirt road.
Coming via Machadodorp
Proceed on the N4 past Witbank, Middelburg and Belfast on to Machadodorp.
After Belfast, watch out for “Milly’s” (on your left). The turn-off to Machadodorp is 3.6km after Milly’s. Turn right off the highway towards the town. Be careful - this is a very bad intersection. After turning off, travel 500m to the first stop sign. There is a BP garage on your right. Turn right here and you will be on the R36 to Carolina. There is no cell phone reception past Machadodorp.
Carry on for 25.9 kms from the stop street until you see the “Doornkop” and the ‘Komati Gorge’ sign. Turn left. You can, in any case, only turn one way.
Proceed on gravel road for 4.6 km until you see the large green sign to Komati Gorge. Turn left here. If you get to Doornkop, you have gone too far!
You will immediately cross a low water bridge across the Komati River. Proceed for a further 2 km. You will pass through big silver gates marked “no admittance” – Don’t worry carry on!
Cross a second bridge. Immediately thereafter the road forks – Keep left as indicated by the sign to Komati Gorge.
Proceed for a further 3 kms. You will go up a hill and thereafter down a steep concrete road. Komati Gorge Development is at the bottom of the hill, in the gorge. The restaurant is on your left and reception is on your right.
