Lying on the banks of the Lions River, with peaceful views over the Dargle Valley, Lions River Country Cottages offers its guests the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy nature at its best. With only 4 cottages on over 22 hectares of land, we have been able to position our quality self-catering cottages as far apart as is practically possible to offer maximum privacy, peace and quiet. They are fully equipped, and all you need to bring is your food and charcoal for your braai. AccommodationAll the cottages are serviced self catering units with all bedding, linen, bath towels, kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, glasses, etc. supplied. The cottages have a spacious and comfortable lounge area with open Jetmaster fireplace, dining table, fully equipped open plan kitchen with electric stove, microwave oven, fridge (with separate freezer compartment) and a dish washer. Each cottage is equipped with a Sony stereo TV, connected to a dish and decoder. SABC 1, 2 and 3 as well as “e”TV are available, but should you wish to view DSTV, remember to bring your Sim card. The guest suite has DSTV. The cottages have large bedrooms, with queen size beds and the larger cottages also have two single beds in the 2nd bedroom. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, with bath and shower, and considering the crisp winter mornings, under-floor heating. A large patio, complete with Weber braai’s, make them all the perfect setting for a sundowner, with a panoramic view of the Midlands. Marrakesh (sleeps 6): This is the largest of our cottages, being the converted stables of the Arab stud farm “Marrakesh”, from whence this cottage derives its name. It sleeps 6, in 2 bedrooms with queen size beds, 1 bedroom with two single beds. Two of the bedrooms are large enough, should you so need, to have a single bed / cot placed in them. Duiker (sleeps 4 + 2): This is a newly built cottage, situated below the main house, and has been positioned to have wide ranging views of the beautiful countryside. It is so named, as Duiker are frequently seen around this area of our property. It sleeps 6, in 1 bedroom with queen size bed, 1 bedroom with 2 single beds, 1 bunk bed in the passage nook. Lavender (sleeps 2 + 1): This was one of our existing buildings, altered and re-furbished, and is so named as it overlooks a beautiful lavender patch. This cottage sleeps 3 in 1 bedroom with queen size bed, 1 single bed in the lounge. Guest Suite (sleeps 2): As the name implies, the guest suite forms the east wing of our home. It consists of a large lounge, with a gas operated Jetmaster, small dining area and kitchenette. It has a separate entrance, off its own private veranda, with Weber braai. This cottage sleeps 2 in 1 bedroom with queen size bed. Notes: We regret, no pets are allowed We have a “No Smoking” policy within our cottages. Breakfast:We offer optional breakfast, which needs to be booked before your arrival. Provisions:As a service to our guests, we would be pleased to “buy in” your grocery requirements for you, provided that this it is emailed to us good time. In addition, particularly if your intended stay is only overnight, not only can we buy in your grocery requirements for you, but we would be pleased to provide you with limited amounts of tea, coffee, milk, etc. Activities“Our” river provides us with excellent private river frontage for fishing, swimming in our river pool, or simply just having an idyllic braai or stroll. Other activities available to our guests on our property, are tubing in the river, mountain biking and croquet, and, as the area is in the centre of the Midlands Meander, all the attractions, such as golf, horse riding, Midmar Dam water-sports, or even hot air balloon rides, of this famous area are within easy reach of our guests. LocationLions River Country Cottages are just over an hours drive from Durban and about four hours from Johannesburg. Howick, just 10 minutes away has a good variety of bars and restaurants, several shopping centres, all major banks, a Post Office, doctors, hospital and places of worship. ACCREDITATIONS
