Activities & Attractions

Wits End is a stone's throw from the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park, one of only 7 sites world-wide having been awarded World Heritage status in 3 categories, for archaeology, vegetation and geology.

The private nature trail on the property is a nature lovers paradise passing through an indigenous forest and mountain grasslands, with an abundance of flora and fauna. An all weather road extends to our front gate and provides easy access to the many amenities of the area which include fine hotels, restaurants and golf courses; of which the Champagne Sports Resort 18 hole championship course is a favourite amongst the golfing fraternity.

Other sporting facilities within close range include tennis, bowls and squash. The more adventurous can try quad biking, river rafting or view the magnificent mountains on a helicopter flip or while taking a tandem flight in a microlite.

Guests may attend the weekly term-time concerts held in the auditorium of the neighbouring internationally acclaimed Drakensberg Boys Choir School. The school's bi-annual music festivals are an event not to be missed. Other attractions within a few minutes drive of Wits End include horse riding, game viewing, a falconry display and Bushmen paintings.

Wits End’s 10 acre dam is one of the largest in the area and attracts an abundance of bird life. The dam is stocked with Natal yellow fish and rainbow trout so guests can enjoy fly fishing right on their doorstep. Alternately explore the dam and meandering river on one of our canoes.

Facilities Nearby

On a practical note Wits End is situated within a few kilometres of 2 supermarkets as well as a liquor store and excellent bakery. There is also a wealth of local arts and crafts on sale in the area and many other opportunities to indulge in retail therapy of the less practical variety!

There are a variety of places to eat in the area including coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and hotels. We encourage group bookings and can arrange various recreational activities.
