DESCRIPTION:
The Saunders family welcomes you to Twin Springs for an idyllic and relaxing getaway in the heart of the Southern Drakensberg Mountains which is away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet close enough to all the amenities of the small towns of Underberg and Himeville. Enjoy the tranquility of our 14 hectares of pure spring water dams and river.
Enjoy nature walks that are suitable for the fit and not so fit. Try to spot the elusive birds that make those beautiful calls. Fly fish in any of our three well stock dams or enjoy horse riding into the Lesotho Mountains. Have a picnic alongside one of the springs or streams and listen to them gurgling and chortling away. Take a tour up Sani Pass (remember your passport) or just sit and relax by the fire place at night. See the stars at night as never seen before in the city.
Self Catering Accommodation
Twin Springs consists of three homely cottages namely Lilly, Pigeon and Feather Cottages.
Lilly Cottage (8)
A beautiful spacious three bedroom cottage, main bedroom has a double bed with bathroom en-suite, second bedroom has two single beds, third bedroom has two bunk-beds (all beds have electric blankets) ,open plan living area with fire place, fully equipped kitchen, one x separate bathroom / shower & toilet (shower over the bath), huge veranda to relax on. The cottage does not have TV or radio however the cottage is fitted with a satellite dish; please bring your own TV and decoder with relevant cords.
Feather Cottage (4)
This is a brand new two bedroom cottage with double bed in main room and one bunk bed in spare room. All beds have electric blankets. Great views of the dams and mountains with open plan lounge, dinning room and kitchen. A lovely fire place with a cozy veranda area. The cottage does not have TV or radio however the cottage is fitted with a satellite dish; please bring your own TV and decoder with relevant cords.
Pigeon Cottage (4)
It is a cozy, peaceful one bedroom, self catering cottage which can sleep up to four guests. Main bedroom has a double bed (with electric blanket) en-suite bathroom. Cozy fire place in the lounge area. Kitchen (fully equipped), lounge, & dining area all open plan Double sleeper couch in the lounge area. With two window seats that can be converted into beds as well. Barbeque facilities on the verandah. The cottage does not have TV or radio however the cottage is fitted with a satellite dish; please bring your own TV and decoder with relevant cords.
Service
All cottages are fully serviced everyday and are self catering.
Activities
Our lounges are warmed by a fire places that have been installed especially for those cold winter "berg evenings" that are so peaceful and romantic. Come and see for yourself. During the hot summer months enjoy canoeing on one of our dams or cascading down the crystal clear Umzimkulu River. Fly Fish in anyone of our 3 well stocked dams for Rainbow trout or that elusive 10 Pounder. Go for a walk through our valley or up the mountain. A trip up Sani Pass to the highest pub / bar in Africa is a must (remember to bring your passport).

DIRECTIONS:
From Johannesburg
Take the N3 all the way towards KwaZulu Natal. At the Howick Road turn off (R617) glide off to the left and proceed to the Stop sign at the bottom of the ramp. At the Stop sign turn right and go under the bridge of the N3 and continue for 111km to the town of Underberg. You will pass through the small towns of Boston & Bulwer on your way to Underberg. Once in Underberg continue through the town on the Kokstad road. You will go past the Underberg Country club on your right and after approx. 1 km you will reach the Umzimkulu bridge, (DO NOT CROSS THE BRIDGE) At the bridge turn right on the Drakensberg Gardens road and travel for 4.5km and on your right you will see the sign board of Twin Springs. Turn right and then immediately left up the gravel road and drive directly up into Twin Springs which is well sign posted to the cottages.
From Durban
Take the N3 to Pietermariztburg and continue along to the Howick Road turn off (R617) glide off to the left and at the bottom at the Stop sign turn left onto the R617 to Underberg for 111 km. You will pass through the small towns of Boston & Bulwer on your way to Underberg. Once in Underberg continue through the town on the Kokstad road.
