For tranquility and some light stress relief, you can relax and soak up the sun around our beautiful swimming pool, whilst taking in the view of the sea from the expansive patio or enjoy a sundowner while watching the Umhlanga sunsets from our open bar area. ACCOMMODATIONOur four, five star luxury en-suite bedrooms are all uniquely and individually styled in warm earthy tones: The Pansy room, a spacious and luxurious sea facing suite, opens onto the patio and pool area. Perfect for honeymooners or those guests wanting that something extra, the stylish and modern bathroom boasts a lavish shower and separate bath. The Urchin room, also a sea facing suite, is equally luxurious and elegant. It too has a beautiful bathroom with modern designed frameless glass shower as do the Conch and Cowrie rooms. All our rooms have an extra length king size bed with an option to configure them as singles except the Cowrie which comes standard with a king size bed. The Conch room opens has it’s own access to our beautiful garden and the Cowrie looks onto an atrium open to the sky. All our rooms are fully air-conditioned, are equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, have TV and individual Satellite with a bouquet of channels, telephone, have a dressing table with hair dryer, full length mirrors and plenty of cupboard space with a cupboard safe. ADDITIONAL FACILITIES• There is plenty of secure on site parking available. • ADSL internet access is available and the guest house in it’s entirety is a wireless hot spot. • A desk top computer is available to be used by those guests who do not have a lap top with them. LOCATIONEnjoy a casual walk along the promenade which is just 200 metres from us - it meanders approximately 4 km’s along the beachfront and is a very popular exercise route for joggers, more serious walkers or families going for a stroll. With more and more businesses having moved out of the city centre of Durban to the business parks of La Lucia and Umhlanga we are finding more executives making full use of our very convenient location. Sandals is ideally located for and has much to offer Business Executives, Golf groups and both local and international tourists. ACTIVITIES & ATTRACTIONSActivity wise Sandals is centrally situated for a variety of activities and excursions within surrounding Umhlanga and KwaZulu Natal. The area is a golfers paradise with the following courses within easy reach: Zimbali Country Club, Durban Country Club, Beachwood Country Club, Umhlali Country Club and Windsor. The fabulous shopping centres of Gateway and La Lucia are both only 3 kilometres away. Other activities that can be arranged are: deep sea fishing, dolphin viewing, horse riding in Umdloti, guided walks through the nature reserve, local tours and for the ladies (or gents), an outing to the Spa. Other local places of interest include uShaka Marine World, Bat Centre (Local African Arts & Crafts), the Barnyard theatre, Sibaya and Suncoast casino and the Sharks board. We are within 200metres of the M4 motorway which goes straight through to the city centre of Durban with all it’s attractions. The M4 is also the link to the N2 national highway which is the access route to Zululand with all it’s world renowned game reserves such as Hluhluwe and Imfolozi, Phinda, Mkhuze, Ndumo and Tembe Elephant park. The famous wetlands of St Lucia are found along the Elephant Coastline as is Sodwana and Kosi Bay. Both Swaziland and Mozambique beckon a little further on. DIRECTIONS: from Durban: Follow the M4 North until you come to the Umhlanga Rocks off ramp (not Umhlanga/La Lucia Ridge, the next one). Take this exit and turn right at the traffic light at the top into Lighthouse Road, over the M4. At the second set of traffic lights turn right into Chartwell Drive. This will take you through the village. Cross over Ocean Drive and continue along Chartwell. We are located one block down the road on the right hand side, number 39. from Johannesburg: From the N3 approaching Durban take a left turn onto the N2 North. Follow the N2 until you come to the Umhlanga Rocks/Mount Edgecombe exit no 41. Take this off ramp and turn right at the traffic light at the top over the N2. After the traffic light on the other side of the bridge take the SECOND exit onto Umhlanga Rocks Drive, go through the first circle (East Coast Radio House and MacDonalds on your left and then Umhlanga Hospital) and at the second circle (just before the Sharks Board) turn right into Lighthouse Road and continue down the hill into Umhlanga. Once you have crossed the M4 turn right at the second set of traffic lights into Chartwell Drive. This will take you through the village. Cross over Ocean Drive and continue along Chartwell.
