Rocky Mountain Lodge offers accommodation in a double-storied, alpine log cabin or the pet-friendly stone cottage on our farm near Underberg in the heart of the Southern Drakensberg. You and your family will find the stresses of city life forgotten as you slip into the gentle rhythm of country life. AccommodationThe Log Cabin The double-storey Log Cabin has 4 double rooms, plus 4 extra single beds for children. All bedding is provided, the kitchen is fully equipped. The cabin is serviced daily by our friendly local staff. Accommodation is on a self-catering or B&B basis. Enjoy a glass of good wine by the roaring log fire, breakfast out on the deck, and enjoy our ever-changing weather. Breakfast (Log Cabin Only) Delicious breakfasts are available on request before arrival. We will serve you in the comfort of your own cottage. The Stone Cottage (Pet-friendly) This secluded cottage has a log interior and a special ambiance all of its own, looking down onto the Amanzanyama river. It has 4 double bedrooms (and 3 single beds), a fully-equipped kitchen, large covered veranda, lounge and dining room. It is also serviced daily. Enjoy the rolling expanse of our uninterrupted view from the comfort of this truly special retreat. Both cottages have DSTV with limited channels. The Stone Cottage is pet friendly (fenced for this reason). Trout FishingGuests can enjoy fly-fishing our regularly-stocked trout dams and natural streams, making this a trout fisherman’s paradise. Attractions & ActivitiesEnjoy natural swimming in clean mountain rivers, bird watching and wonderful walks through the farmlands. Experience farm life first hand. Take a day trip up the famous Sani Pass into the tiny Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho, and experience the harsh beauty of this remote world. We are close to the villages of Himeville and Underberg where you can shop for local crafts, eat out in restaurants and tea gardens, or visit the local museum. The country club offers squash and golf to visitors, in addition to two other scenic golf courses in the district. Horse riding can be arranged. Visit the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site, and hike up into the main Berg or go on a guided San Rock Art Tour. |

DIRECTIONS: Take the N3 from Durban to Johannesburg as far as Howick. Take Exit 99,Bulwer/Underberg. Follow the R617 road. Go through Bulwer and head for Underberg. Go straight through Underberg on the Swartberg Road for 9,5 kilometers on the tar. Go past the Drakensberg Gardens turn off, over the Umzimkulu River, past the Bushmansnek turnoff. Exactly 2.4km after the Bushmansnek turnoff is an Escom Sub-Station on your right. This is the entrance to “The Stone Cottage”. Travel a further 1,5km on the tar to the Main entrance. Exactly 4 km from the Bushmansnek turnoff is the main entrance to Rocky Mountain Lodge and the “Log Cabin”. The Farms name is Rocky Mountain Lodge on your right hand side. Come down the driveway for about 500m, take the right hand fork to the homestead. The Log-Cabin is just past the House. Stables are near the sheds above the house.
