Looking for something different in the Drakensberg, visit Qambathi Mountain Lodge, situated on Qambathi Mountain Reserve, in the beautiful Kamberg Valley. The lodge is situated at the foot of the mountain in a spectacular garden and with magnificent views. Original art forms an integral part of the exclusive handmade furniture and decor used, setting new standards in the Midlands and Drakensberg.

Accommodation


Two rooms are situated inside the main building of the lodge. They are equally appointed as the three garden suites. All rooms are en-suite with shower facilities and big baths for a long relaxing distressing soaking. The three garden rooms have private decks with magnificent hanging chairs for that perfect sundowner or morning coffee, overlooking the Silver Stream and the mountain. Wonderful birdlife make sure you awake to the real sound of nature.

Dining


Experience fine dining where each meal becomes an event, inter acting with the chef with tips on cooking and paring of wine with the mouthwatering courses. Qambathi Mountain Lodge is part of the Experience KwaZulu Natal Wine & Dine initiative. This is a group a carefully selected lodges with high standard of cuisine on offer.

We are constantly exploring new food ideas and each dish becomes an excitement. A display kitchen inside the dining room offer guests the opportunity to talk to the chefs while they are busy preparing the meals. Food combinations are explained and the carefully selection of wines on offer becomes a superb discussion point for the food lover

Activities and Attractions


Relax and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere from the sala seats or pool loungers on the chill deck, while overlooking the gardens and mountains. Cooking, art and photography courses are just some of the activities on offer.

Take a scenic drive in an open game viewer to explore the magnificent view from on top of the mountain, while horse rides are available for the more energetic. The Reserve has indigenous mountain forests, wetlands and grasslands, offering the perfect secluded spots. The plains animals consisting of Eland, Zebra, Hartebeest, Blesbok, Reedbuck, the protected Oribie, Duiker and various others allow safe exploring of the Reserve by guests.

Situated in the secluded Kamberg Valley, close enough to enjoy the Midlands Meander or the Rock Art at Kamberg Reserve, while superb hiking can be done on the Reserve or at Highmoor Reserve, only 5 kilometers away.

Each guest is invited to become part of our ‘plant a tree’ programme. If you decide to adopt a tree, we will make sure it is looked after and you will get regular updates on the progress. This is just some of the projects that we have on the Reserve to ensure nature are looked after and cared for.

DIRECTIONS:

From Johannesburg
Take far left toll booth in Mooi River and cross over N3 up to T-junction. Turn left here on the R103 towards Rosetta.

From Durban
Take the Nottingham Road turn-off and continue into Nottingham Road and turn right under the train bridge towards Rosetta.

In Rosetta, turn on the road indicated as “Kamberg Camp and Rock Art Centre”. Continue on this road till another similar sign (about 28 km), turn left and continue for 1,9km to gate on right hand side of road.
