Situated just 10km from the village of Underberg in a beautifully picturesque area of the Southern Drakensberg in KwaZulu Natal, Oak Tree Lodge on Ridgedale Trout Farm, offers upmarket Bed & Breakfast accommodation in tranquil surroundings.

Accommodation


Oak Tree Lodge has 6 beautifully appointed double rooms with immaculate en-suite bathrooms. There is underfloor heating throughout for those chilly winter nights. All linen including bath towels are provided. Please bring your own swimming towels.

Facilities


The central dining room is downstairs where everyone gathers together for a hearty breakfast before heading out on the day’s excursion. There is a TV with Satellite decoder and DVD machine in the lounge upstairs. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings from the patio or relax with a good book in the reading lounge down stairs.

Functions & Entertainment


For guests’ convenience, a large thatched entertainment area, nicknamed “The Barn” has a viewing deck overlooking the trout dam that is fed by a waterfall. The Barn has a bar, fridges, braai and ice machine. This area is suitable for all types of functions.

Together with the self-catering cottages at Ridgedale Trout Farm, Oak Tree Lodge is also ideal for company weekends away, with Management staying at the Lodge, while staff can stay in the cottages. In this way, groups of up to 34 may be accommodated on a sharing basis.

Activities &Attractions


Horse Riding can be enjoyed at Khotso Horse trails, which is just next door to us. Enjoy riding through forests and over hilltops with stunning views of the mountains and farmlands. River Rafting & Tubing is most enjoyed in the summer months and is conveniently done on the stretch of the Umzimkulu River just in front of Ridgedale Trout Farm.

Trips up Sani Pass go up everyday and are led by well-informed guides. For this your passport is essential, as you will enter into Lesotho to have lunch at the highest pub in Africa at the Sani Top Chalet.

Guided Quad Tours can be arranged from Sani Pass Hotel and Paintball Games can be arranged on request (depending on number of players) on our premises. We have 3 lovely golf courses nearby. There are local pubs, restaurants and tea gardens in the nearby villages of Underberg and Himeville.

DIRECTIONS:

From the N3 between Johannesburg and Durban, take the R617 at Howick and travel towards Uunderberg. Drive straight through the village and turn right onto the Drakensberg Gardens Resorts Road 4km past Underberg. Travel another 6km and the Oak Tree Lodge sign is on the right.
