Perfectly situated in the historically preserved Leighton Street, Leighton Lodge is the ideal place from which to explore Pietermaritzburg. Leighton Lodge is situated in a charming historically preserved Victorian Lane. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the main CBD where you can see many of the city’s historic buildings. The Natal Museum which features an outstanding Victorian display of houses and shops as they were in the 1850’s.

The Tatham Art Gallery housing the famous ormolu clock that fascinates tourists as they watch the hour being struck. The Macrorie House Museum and the Oval Cricket Stadium are also within easy walking distance. We are also close to Maritzburg College and the two main private hospitals, St. Anne’s and MediClinic.

ACCOMMODATION


We have three double rooms, one with two twin beds and the other two with double beds. The twin-bedded room has an en-suite bathroom comprising a bath, hand-held shower, basin and toilet.

The double-bedded rooms have en-suite bathrooms with shower, basin and toilet. All rooms are equipped with TVs with M-Net, microwave ovens, tea and coffee-making facilities and ironing facilities. We have secure parking, separate entrances, a sparkling pool and a laundry service is available.

Our rates include a choice of English, Continental or packed breakfast.
Evening meals are available by prior arrangement.

ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES


Pietermaritzburg is beautifully positioned for day trips to the Midlands Meander, which is home to quality handmade crafts of every description - cheeses, pottery, leathercraft, embroidery, glass, weaving, wind chimes, hand-made furniture, clothing to name but a few. A charming country atmosphere offering numerous stops for teas and lunches. Other day trips to Midmar Dam, Howick Falls and the Valley of a Thousand Hills are a delight.

DIRECTIONS:

To find Leighton Lodge take the Chatterton Rd. Exit from the N3 (Southbound), drive straight down Boshoff St. and turn right at the 8th robot into Jabu Ndlovu (Loop) Street. Drive past the Imperial Hotel and the Natal Museum keeping on the left-hand side of the road. You will go through 3 robots and then take the next turning left into Leighton Street. We are about half-way down the hill on the left-hand side.

If you are coming into ‘Maritzburg from the N3 (Northbound), take the Alan Paton Ave. Exit, drive along Alan Paton Ave (Durban Rd)., into Chief Albert Lathuli Rd. (Commercial Rd) and turn left in Jabu Ndlovu St. (Loop St.) (You will see Game on the corner). Then proceed as above.
