Meander down winding English country lanes overhung with mature trees - a glimpse here and there of majestic views across the Winterskloof valley - to reach Hilton Country House home of Theresa and Harold Rees. We are snuggled into the trees, high on a hillside in 2 acres of indigenous forest with a pathway, (laid by Italian Prisoners-of-War), enticing you to explore our stream and small waterfalls. If you are looking for a cozy Bed & Breakfast in beautiful surrounds, then you need search no more. LOCATION & ATTRACTIONSWe offer a quiet, relaxing and inviting getaway in the village of Hilton, (10 minutes from Pietermaritzburg CBD). The southern end of the Midlands Meander arts and crafts route is on our doorstep; we are on the Southern KwaZulu Natal Birding Route and just an hour away from both Durban and the Drakensberg mountain range. We are ideally situated for weddings and events held at Hilton College and St. Anne’s, as well as for the businessman and holidaymaker. You will never be short of things to do and see. Ask us for advice and let us point you in the direction of some of those secret jewels we have found. ACCOMMODATIONChoose from either of our 2 tastefully furnished facilities: Guest Suite (sleeps 2 in twin beds + 2 on sleeper couch): Situated on the ground floor of the main house, the bedroom has twin beds en suite (shower no bath), additionally there is a double sleeper couch in the spacious lounge. The Suite has a fully-equipped kitchenette, TV (channels 1,2,3 & eTV), iron, ironing-board, hair-dryer, safe, heaters and electric blankets, for those chilly nights.. French doors open onto your own garden. Forest Cottage (sleeps 2 in twin beds): Through indigenous trees and shrubs, steps lead down to our secluded Forest Cottage. Enjoy a sundowner on the lovely wooden deck listening to the call of forest birds and eagles soaring overhead. There are twin beds en suite (shower no bath). Using Biggie Best fabric, with bedside lamps made by local crafters, it has a cozy, relaxing, cottagey feel. There is a fridge, TV (channels 1,2,3 & eTV), safe, heaters and electric blankets. Complimentary tea/coffee trays are provided in both units, plus private entrances with secure parking (electronic access). BREAKFASTBreakfasts are served on the upper storey of the main house with balcony overlooking the valley. In addition to a full English breakfast guests may choose from a selection of cereals, muesli, yoghurt, breads, preserves, honey, juices and fresh fruit. Excellent restaurants and bistro’s nearby. We are very flexible - if you have special needs, we will try to cater for them. |
