This is a perfect venue for large groups of family and friends, sleeping up to 12 people. Hillhouse is on Orchards Farm, on the Petrusstroom Road, 12 kms from Howick, on a hill above Midmar Dam, in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands. The converted farm shed is the most unusual, and welcoming venue and its open plan design lends itself to a myriad of adventures! AccommodationFour bedrooms on an upper level overlook the living area, and there are four bathrooms. The main bedroom has a queen sized bed and ensuite bathroom. Three of the bedrooms have a pair of single beds and an open mezzanine has four more beds if needed. Fine cotton bed linen and bath towels are provided. FacilitiesThe living space, is vast and comfortable. There is a large open fire place, with ample wood provided, as well as heaters to keep you warm in winter. The kitchen is fully equipped for self catering, and there are braai (barbeque) facilities available. It’s a shabby chic kind of a shed with leather couches sitting comfortably with fabric sofas. Woven carpets lend it that elegant French country look, while a long dining tables predisposes the area to languid, gourmet lunches on a weekend. With large glass entrances on either end of the building, the space is full of light, and one has the feeling of being outside, inside. Hillhouse is private, has plenty of space, all the necessary comforts, and lots of style. Weddings and ConferencesHillhouse is ideal for weddings. The bride, groom and 6 wedding guests may be accommodated overnight, to extend the celebration. Further accommodation is available in closely situated guest houses and hotels. The building comfortably holds up to 100 guests indoors. Exchange vows under the trees, lunch / dinner tables may be indoors or on the lawn outside. Wedding co-ordination is available to suit your needs. Catering is supplied by our elected caterer. Hillhouse is also available for conferences, workshops, or simply a big celebration. LocationIn the heart of the KwaZulu Natal Midlands, top restaurants are abundant and in close proximity. With beautiful walks on the rolling hills, buck, bird-life and tranquil surroundings one can retreat, relax and unwind. The 70 hectare farm has ideal cycling terrain and at Midmar Dam, only a few kilometers away, one can fish, sail and water ski. DIRECTIONS: From Durban Take the Howick/Midmar offramp off the N3. Follow directions to Midmar Dam and pass the entrance. Just after the Fernhill Hotel, turn left onto the Petrus Stroom road. Travel for 4 kms then turn left at Farm No. 7 - Crooks - Hillhouse. Follow the road up the hill for 2 kms enjoy the view of the dam turn right at the " Hillhouse" sign. Follow the top road to the end to Hillhouse. From Johannesburg Take the Howick/Midmar offramp off the N3. Follow directions to Midmar Dam. Just before the Fernhill Hotel, turn right onto the Petrus Stroom road. Travel for 4 kms then turn left at Farm No. 7 - Crooks - Hillhouse. Follow the road up the hill for 2 kms enjoy the view of the dam turn right at the " Hillhouse" sign. Follow the top road to the end to Hillhouse. Please Note: The last 6 kms are dirt road.
