DESCRIPTION:

Situated a mere 800 metres from the popular Cascades Shopping Centre in the leafy northern suburb of Montrose, and less than 5 minutes drive to the Liberty Midlands Mall and the N3 highway, Gecko Hill is a popular self catering destination.

Accommodation


Two spacious self-catering cottages are available, "Acacia Cottage" and "Stinkwood Cottage", an en-suite bedroom - "Aloe Suite" and a two bedroom lodge - "The Lodge".

Stinkwood Cottage
• Open-plan kitchen and dining room
• Spacious Lounge: Two single beds, couch, television
• Comfortable en-suite bedroom with double bed and built-in cupboards

Acacia Cottage
• Open-plan bedroom, lounge, dining room and kitchen
• Bedroom area: Three single beds (mattresses are available for children)
• Lounge area: Television, two armchairs
• Bathroom off bedroom area.

Aloe Suite
• An en suite bedroom with a queen-size bed.
• The Aloe Suite has a lovely view from the indigenous garden to the green hills beyond
• This room is not equipped for self catering and continental breakfasts are offered on request.
• TV, bar fridge, toaster provided

The Lodge
• Two bedrooms, one with double bed, the other with two single beds
• A couch which doubles up as a single bed is situated in the lounge to accommodate a fifth person
• One bathroom with bath, shower, toilet
• Fully equipped kitchen flowing into dining room
• Lounge with fire place, TV, DVD player
• Patio off lounge with 6-seater table overlooking paved pool area
• Pool for exclusive use of Lodge and Aloe Suite guests
• Aloe Suite can be incorporated into Lodge for larger bookings [increasing capacity of Lodge from 5 to 7 guests]
• Secluded fire/braai [barbecue] area off patio/pool area
• Private with beautiful views over the valley to the forested hills
• Indigenous bird garden

• Liberty Midlands Mall is a very convenient and easy 3km drive
• The Royal Show Grounds are situated about 2km away
• Victoria Country Club and office park overlook our suburb of Montrose and is approx 3km away
• Two lovely nature reserves are in close proximity: Queen Elizabeth Park and Ferncliff Nature Reserve both have lovely walking trails and picnic areas
• We are in close proximity to independent boys and girls schools eg Cordwalles, The Wykeham Collegiate, while Maritzburg College, Girls High School and St Charles College are a 10 min drive across town
• The village of Hilton is a short 5 min drive away. Cowan House Prep School and St Anne’s School for Girls are both situated in this area
• We are a short stroll away from Greys Hospital (approximately 1km away).
• An extensive network of mountain bike trails in the forest-covered hills is a mere 800m away - this includes the course used in the recent World Downhill Champs
• The start of the Comrades Marathon is only 2km away and is a quick, direct drive
• Redlands Office Park is situated approximately 2.5 km away
• The start of the Duzi Canoe Marathon is a short 10 minute drive across town
• Two major dams, Midmar Dam and Albert Falls are both a short easy drive away (approximately 25 minutes). The world famous Midmar Mile, fantastic bass fishing and varied water sports are all popular at both dams
• Durban’s beautiful beaches and numerous tourist attractions are a quick 45 min drive away
• The Drakensberg Mountains (southern and central Berg) are a scenic drive away (approximately 2 hours)
• The famous Midlands Meander arts and crafts route which includes numerous and varied country restaurants is easy to access in the vicinity of Midmar Dam and the nearby village of Howick. (The spectacular Howick Falls and Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve are highly recommended in Howick). A short drive from Howick is the birders paradise of Karkloof which also features the acclaimed Karkloof Canopy Tour.

From Durban
Take N3 to Pietermaritzburg.
Continue on highway towards Harrismith.
Take Armitage/Sanctuary Rd offramp.
Keep centre lane until traffic circle.
Continue right around circle up Town Bush Rd towards Grey's Hospital and Montrose.
Pass Grey's on left. Continue through robots at Montgomery Drive (All Saints Church on left corner).
Pass under bridge.
First left into Neden Road.
Continue past Lone Tree Place.
Second house on left is 7 Neden Road (Gecko Hill).

From Johannesburg
Pass Hilton on N3.
On Town Hill take Peter Brown offramp.
Left into Peter Brown Drive.
Right into Francis Staniland.
Continue about 2km to end.
Left into Neden Road.
Second house on right is 7 Neden Road (Gecko Hill).
