DESCRIPTION:

Emerald Cove is a luxurious self catering thatched hide-away for discerning people, right on the beach. Emerald Cove is located about an hours drive south of Durban and enjoys a warm subtropical climate of sunny days and warm winters while our shores are washed by the warm Indian Ocean.

Literally a few steps away through our front gate you will find St Michaels Beach, this is a safe swimming beach, lying protected between a tidal pool and a placid lagoon. With so many activities and facilities close by, whatever you choose to do, Emerald Cove is the perfect holiday destination. Emerald Cove comprises seven tastefully furnished and fully equipped self-catering chalets.

ACCOMMODATION


The thatch chalets are tastefully furnished with 1 or 2 bedrooms, lounge, kitchen and patio. Each chalet is fully equipped and includes microwave, fan and TV (DSTV available if you bring your own decoder).

There are 4 x two bedroom chalets with second upstairs loft bedroom (sleeps 4 or 5).
There are 2 one bedroom chalets with a double bed in the main en suite and sleeper couch in the lounge. (sleeps 2 or 3). The largest 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom sleeps 6.

FACILITIES


Walk out of the front gate, under the milk wood trees and onto the popular St Michaels beach, which lies in a safe, protected bay between a tidal pool and placid lagoon. Enjoy a braai relaxing around our private swimming pool or walk along the dunes viewing the abundant bird life.

Emerald Cove is ideally situated within easy walking distance of the Shelly Beach shopping mall, restaurants, pubs and cinemas

ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS


Emerald Cove is a great place to enjoy fun in the sun, simply by walking out onto St Michaels beach you can surf the waves, fish off the rocks, explore the rock pools filled with marine life, gather shells, take a paddle boat or canoe up the lagoon, or relax and suntan on the golden sand. St Mikes is also a popular surfing break with good waves all year round, which attract the surfers, body boarders, paddle skiers and kite surfers.

For the more active, there is off-shore angling, deep-sea fishing, sports clubs and nine national golf courses nearby. We can arrange whale watching pleasure cruises or deep sea fishing trips. Visit Oribi Gorge and go abseiling, white water rafting or try the world’s highest swing. Meander along the arts and crafts route or go for a tranquil nature walk. We are 30 minutes away from the Wild Coast Casino and transfers are available from Margate Airport.

DIRECTIONS:

From Durban
From Durban (Airport) take the N2 freeway south, past Amanzimtoti, Scottburgh, Hibberdene, Port Shepstone.(aprox 120kms)
Go straight through the toll gate ( Port Shepstone ) – R61

From Kokstad
From Kokstad follow signs to Port Shepstone - just before Pt Shepstone you need to turn right onto the toll road - R61 to Margate & Port Edward.

Take the Shelly beach off ramp (No 39) which is about 6 kms after the toll gate.
Turn left after the off ramp and head down towards the sea.
Go straight through the traffic lights at South Coast Mall turn off.
At the “T”junction there are traffic lights, turn right towards Shelly Beach.
Go straight through two sets of traffic lights passing the large Shelly Centre Shopping Mall on your left.
After about 800m from the shopping center look out for EMERALD COVE, the thatched holiday resort on your left hand side.
We are immediately before the first bridge, over the Mhlangeni River,
St Michaels-on-sea.
