The Drakensberg Sun Resort is situated high in the dramatic landscape of the Cathkin Peak area of the Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa from where magnificent views and fresh mountain air can be enjoyed.
Extensive use of natural materials, polished wood and rich earthy colours make the Drakensberg Sun Resort in KwaZulu Natal a comfortable and relaxing outdoor resort set in beautiful natural surroundings. The restaurant overlooks the resort's private lake and provides guests with a sumptuous buffet. Light snacks and drinks are available on the Terrace throughout the day.
The Drakensberg Sun Resort provides a wide range of activities such as boating, sundowner cruises on the lake, pitch & putt, tennis, squash, volleyball, as well as spectacular mountain hikes, guided walks, mountain biking, golfing on the Champagne Sports Golf Course which is situated nearby. Furthermore, the Drakensberg Sun Resort features two outdoor swimming pools.
Accommodation
The Drakensberg Sun Resort offers a total of 78 rooms. The following soft refurbishments have been carried out recently to enhance guests stay at this resort:

Dining
The Lakeview Restaurant serves breakfast from 07h00 to 10h30 daily where guests will find a continental spread with croissants, danishes, cold cuts, yoghurts, cereals and cold fish dishes. Guests may choose from a selection of juices or squeeze the freshest juice from ripe oranges or grapefruits, omelettes, fried eggs, scrambled eggs or poached eggs are also available. Breakfast can be enjoyed on the resorts terrace, being surrounded by indigenous, landscaped gardens and looking over the private lake of the resort.
Dinner is a delightful feast of favourites featuring salads, a roast, casseroles, curries, vegetarian selections and the famous trout cooking station, complemented by delicious desserts.

DIRECTIONS:
FROM JOHANNESBURG
Follow the N3 from Johannesburg towards Durban, this will take you past Harrismith, through the Van Reenens Pass and to the Tugela Toll Plaza. Continue through the Plaza and take the third turnoff (52km from the Toll Plaza). The sign will be posted Bergville / Colenso / Greytown R74 (Sign Board 194). Take the off-ramp and go right over the highway, this road will continue to Winterton (22km). When you get into Winterton you will pass through the town and shops and get to a turn-off towards your left, with the signboard indicating R600 - Central Drakensberg. Take this turn to your left and continue straight. You will continue over an intersection, past Champagne Sports until you see the signboard towards your right for Drakensberg Sun. The Drakensberg Sun is 29km from Winterton.
From Durban
Follow the N3 from Durban towards JHB, continue past the Mooi River Toll Plaza and past the Mooi River North Turnoff. Approximately 36km after the Mooi River Toll plaza you will get to the Escourt (North) / Giants Castle Turnoff (Sign Board 179). Take this towards your left, and continue straight through Loskop for about 31km, where you will reach a signboard saying (R600) Drakensberg World Heritage Site (Central) An your left there will be a thatched building called Thokozisa (if you go onto gravel road you have missed the turn). Turn left and continue straight for approximately 12km, past the Champagne Sports until you see the signboard for Drakensberg Sun, turn right.
