Day 1: Cape Town to Oudtshoorn
We depart from Cape Town and travel to Worcester via Du Toit's Kloof Mountain Pass. At Worcester we visit the fascinating Open Air Museum, a live and interesting exhibition dedicated to the farming community. Lunch is arranged at a restaurant in Montagu. We then travel through the mountains to the Little Karoo. Changing scenery from lush farmland to semi-desert areas make this a day of surprises, arriving to our destination Oudtshoorn.
Day 2: Oudtshoorn to Knysna
Awake to the freshness of the Karoo air! After a good breakfast we visit the world famous Cango Caves where we take a guided tour lasting over an hour - full of fascination! We then set off to the Cango Ostrich Farm to learn more about the worlds largest bird!... and enjoy a traditional lunch* - as you will discover "local is lekker!" On our way out we make a stop at the Cango Wild Life Ranch to view reptiles, snakes and various large kittens... the man-eating type. Then it's on to Knysna - the heart of the Garden Route.
*Should you wish to take a ride on the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe Steam Train from George to Knysna... it is necessary to have a brief lunch along the way.
Day 3: Knysna and Surrounds
Spend time this morning browsing the Knysna village or a short drive to the Garden of Eden. Mid morning we depart for a cruise on the Knysna lagoon. Weather permitting, we will sail out of the heads into the Indian Ocean! The list of the afternoon activities is endless, including some of the following:
» Featherbed Nature Reserve - hiking, abseiling, tractor ride etc.
» Boat based dolphin & whale watching in Plettenberg Bay.
» Monkey Land Sanctuary
» Knysna Elephant Park
» Horse Riding
Day 4: Knysna to Hermanus to Cape Town
We depart from Knysna for the scenic coastal drive towards Mossel Bay. Our route to Swellendam is via farmlands and rolling hills. Swellendam is full of romantic history as you will discover when visiting the Drostdy Museum. In the afternoon our route takes us through charming Hermanus, seaside retreat of the wealthy and famous... and of course the Southern Right Whale!
We arrive back in Cape Town* after four fabulous days!
