Only 3 hours drive from Cape Town on an equally picturesque stretch of road well worth travelling for its own sake... Zoutpan farm accommodation is rich in hospitality, caring and great old-fashioned value. It is also exceptionally well-situated to be the central point to your adventure into the Garden Route.

Only 1km from the N2 at the beginning of the Garden Route between Riversdale and Albertinia, this charming ostrich farm is the ideal halfway stopover between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, with George Airport 80km away. Staying here is the perfect centre of a hub which includes an amazing number of diverse activities in the general locale.

Experience the warm hospitality of Engela and Bertie Horn in their stylishly decorated Cape Dutch apartment units. Participate in the farm activities, observe the ostrich farming and Arabian horse breeding programmes, enjoy walking trails amongst pristine fynbos, much of which is found only in this area, and which teems with bird life and enjoy sundowner drives.

ACCOMMODATION:

At Zoutpan Struishuis Guest Farm you will experience the warm Afrikaner hospitality of Engela and Bertie Horn in their stylishly decorated Cape Dutch apartment units. If you choose to dine 'at home', you will also experience 'boerekos' at its best.

Juda - Single Unit (sleeps maximum 2 guests)
This self catering unit has one bedroom, kitchenette with microwave, toaster, kettle, with coffee station, stove and bar fridge, own bathroom, own entrance and patio onto the garden. The bedroom has two single beds.

Efraim - Single Unit (sleeps maximum 2 guests)
This self catering unit has one room, kitchenette with microwave, toaster, kettle, and coffee station, stove and bar fridge, own bathroom, own entrance and patio onto the garden. The bedroom has one double bed.

Dan - Double Unit (sleeps maximum 4 guests)
This double self catering unit has two bedrooms, kitchenette with microwave, toaster, kettle, with coffee station, stove and bar fridge, own bathroom, own entrance and patio onto the garden. Each bedroom has two single beds

Ruben - Double Unit (sleeps maximum 4 guests)
This self catering unit has two bedrooms, kitchenette with microwave, toaster, kettle, with coffee station, stove and bar fridge, own bathroom, own entrance and patio onto the garden. One bedroom has one double bed and the other bedroom has two single beds.

Benjamin - Luxury Self Catering Unit (sleeps maximum 4 guests)
This luxury self catering unit has two bedrooms (one double and two single beds), own bathroom with a shower and a bath, own entrance and sliding doors onto the garden. This unit also consists of a fully equipped kitchen as well as dining room and lounge.

Luxury Loft 1 (sleeps maximum 3 guests)
This unit has one spacious room (three single beds) with coffee station, own bathroom, own entrance and balcony with spectacular views of the farm.

Luxury Loft 2 (sleeps maximum 3 guests)
This unit has one spacious room (three single beds) with coffee station, own bathroom, own entrance and balcony with spectacular views of the farm.

DINING:

Wonderful farm dinners are available (by prior arrangement), or dine out at any one of a number of great restaurants, all within a reasonable distance.

ACTIVITIES ON THE FARM:

You can participate in the normal farm activities, like the collection of ostrich eggs, milking of cows and feeding of orphaned lambs or horse riding. You will also find 1000 ostriches at any time on the farm, 180 birds of which will be breeding.

Let Engela introduce you to the Arabian horses. Breeding Arabians is another of the programmes on the farm and the elegant, proud horses seen on the farm werf will delight your senses. Take a visit to the salt pans, after which the farm is named and cast your eyes over the array of wild geese and other water fowl which tend to congregate here.

If this is not to your liking, you can relax in the beautiful communal lounge and reading area, explore the area by enjoying walking trails in the fynbos, do some bird watching, or take scenic sundowner drives, watching the African Sunset while sipping on sundowners at the lovely rock-pool, and enjoying a magical evening around an open log-fire.

For the fisherman, bring your tackle! On the adjacent farm is a delightful area complete with ancient fish traps. Here the angling is really good, or take a drive down to Still Bay at the mouth of the Goukou River. If you are lucky, you will probably catch sight of an endangered species, the black oyster-catcher.

ACTIVITIES & ATTRACTIONS NEARBY:

Tranquil and clean-aired as the farm may be, within a 150km radius, the adventurous can experience everything from bungee jumping or bridge swinging, to quad-biking, visit the Cango caves, see the big five and many other endangered species, visit a crocodile farm, dive with the crocs, fish, swim in the sea or in the river, eat local fresh oysters, go to an eel hatchery, see a range of cosmetics being manufactured at the local aloe ferox juice factory and this is only the beginning.

Golf, bowls, squash, tennis, deep sea or river fishing, snorkelling, scuba or shark diving, sky-diving and other sports are all available very close to the farm.
