A mere 4 minutes from the spectacular Wilderness beach - in the heart of the quant Wilderness village, Palms Wilderness is definitely the place to stay when exploring the Garden Route and/or playing golf in the area. In close proximity to Oubaai, Fancourt, George, Pezula and Simola.

One of the few places in South Africa were safety is not an issue …. Take an early morning stroll down the banks of the calm lagoon and watch the Kingfishers nest or experience the sunrise over the ocean.

Wayne & Vicky with their 15 years in the hospitality industry have created this heaven of tranquility in lush tropical gardens. Each one of the 11 rooms offer private entrances into the gardens, water fountains, ponds with koi and gold fish, bird baths & feeders attracting many different species of birds into the gardens. Relax in the shade of the 120 year old Milkwood and watch the Knysna Loeries bounce around in the trees, or just spend the day at the pool reading, sipping bubbly and sun bathing.

Accommodation


All the rooms have been decorated in warm African colors and textures - bringing the bush closer to the ocean. Each room with individual touches, creates an ambiance of subtle luxury and coziness. All rooms offers bar fridges, coffee stations, decanters with Boplaas port, safes, telephones, bathrobes, percale linen, Charlotte Rhys bath amenities and even electric blankets for the cold winter nights. 7 offer air-conditioning. The other 4 offer ceiling fans and heating.

Facilities


A central guest lounge, with deep plush sofas, satellite television, library full of novels and reading matter of the area, wild life and history books, coffee station and honesty bar for guests who need to catch up on television activities. A DVD player is available, if you develop the need for a good movie!

Dining


Not only do the owners and staff of the Palms Wilderness pride themselves in their level of service and facilities but definitely also their restaurant. Here you will be treated to scrumptious dinners accompanied by South African Estate Wines from the temperature controlled cellar in a sublime atmosphere!

With a young and enthusiastic chef at the helm, dinners are definitely an event! The dinner menu changes daily! Fresh produce, beef, lamb, ostrich, game & fish – all sourced daily to ensure the highest standard and quality of each meal presented. Only one seating is hosted per night to ensure a relaxed atmosphere. Soft music, candles and a cracking fire in winter complete the picture!!

Attractions


Wilderness is perfectly located for day trips and small excursions. You can enjoy forest walks and hiking trails in the Wilderness National Park with its 250 bird species. Take a ride in the original Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe steam train from George to Knysna. Visit the Cango Caves and one of the ostrich farms in the little Karoo town of Oudtshoorn. Drive over the Swartberg pass with its breathtaking views, enjoy oyster tasting in Knysna and do some shopping in Plettenberg Bay.

DIRECTIONS:

Off the N2 into the village of Wilderness. (Right from Knysna. Left from George) Drive along George Road past Caltex Fuel Station, Pomodoro Restaurant. Palms Wilderness across from the Protea Hotel to your right. Turn right at the small road next to the park. Palms on your right with outside off-street parking.
