De Zeekoe Guest Farm and Reserve is an African Working farm. This 2000 hectare farm is privately owned and is so much more than just another ostrich farm among many. Cattle, sheep and alfalfa hold their own among the ostrich in this prospering business where the latest agricultural technology and implements ensure the viability and robust growth of a successful enterprise. Perfectly located on one of the world’s “hot spots” with three overlapping flower zones, and only 7km from Oudtshoorn, the 4-star owner managed Guest Farm and Reserve is home also to 450 springbok, troops of monkeys, a group of otters, natural occurring antelope and the “shy five” roaming the Olifants river bed. A research project into the African fish eagle is currently being undertaken by researches at the University of Cape Town. De Zeekoe’s social upliftment initiatives include a Primary school for underprivileged children and a job creation program that supports some 20 local families. 11 Stylish, spacious suites at the main house open onto cool verandahs set in a lush indigenous garden. Four secluded log cabins, a short drive from the main house, built from removed alien poplarwoods to establish endemic brush, offers breathtaking views across the De Zeekoe Lake.
