The Polokwane Golf Course is an absolute marvel to play on. Established in 1863, the club enjoys a wealth of tradition and history that few South African golf clubs enjoy. Back then the city (and club) went by the name of Pietersburg and the area was basically a desert with dry and dusty conditions. Over the last one and half centuries though, the staff and stewards of Polokwane Golf Club have learnt precisely how to overcome the natural obstacles and today the course stands as one of the finest in the province, if not the country.
Polokwane is also known as the “Home of Retief Goosen”, a South African golfer who needs no introduction. Retief honed his exceptional talent on the fairways and greens of Polokwane.
The course itself is an eighteen-hole, Par-72, championship parklands course and offers three different tee options to cater for all levels of player. The fairways are generous in width and the greens are coated in Bent. You’ll also find 14 water hazards awaiting your wayward strokes and wonderfully sculpted bunkers guarding the hole.
Polokwane is open year round and gladly accepts visitors every day of the week.
Facilities include: Golf pro, driving range, rental clubs, rental carts, halfway house, clubhouse, conference facilities, banquet facilities, restaurant, and a bar.
