The Oppenheimer Park Golf Club in Welkom is a gold diggers dream, or perhaps just a dream. Based on the edge of a dam that is home to thousands of pink flamingos and on the outskirts of a dusty gold-mining community, the Oppenheimer Park Golf Club is a lush green oasis with tall trees dating back to a time long before the clubs birth in 1949.
The front and back nineís open with challenging par fourís and the real key to a good scorecard is power and accuracy - easier said than done. Six of the eighteen holes skirt the edge of the dam and demand accurate shots, otherwise your ball, like so many before, will land in the drink.
Bob Grimsdell was the original designer of this course and all credit to him for a fantastic parklands course that has provided real enjoyment for golfers over the years.
Other facilities include: A bar, catering, locker rooms and clubhouse.
