The Maritzburg Golf Club is an eighteen-hole local favourite set on the border of Pietermaritzburg with its back to the beloved rolling hills of green. The club has a long and fascinating history and, having been established in 1886, makes it one the oldest golf courses in South Africa.
The par 72 divides into two games of nine with the second slightly lengthier than the first at a pip over 3000 metres. The course, while challenging but not difficult, is enjoyable as local knowledge is not required to perform well and the roughs are forgiving.
Catering to all levels of golfer, the scenic course includes a meandering stream that twists and turns its way into play as well as bunkers and hazards sure to catch the wayward stroke. Maritzburg, known for their warmth, invite you to join them for a round and well deserved refreshments thereafter.
Facilities include a practice area, bar, Pro shop, conference centre, half-way house and squash courts.
