Bordering the Indian Ocean, the Cape Recife Nature Reserve and on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth’s wealthier residential areas, the Humewood Golf Club finds itself occupying some of the most prime real estate in the Eastern Cape. The course offers fabulous views right across the shimmering bay and has the full set of first class facilities any golfer could hope for.
In fact, the Humewood course consistently appears in the rankings as one of the best golf course in South Africa and has hosted numerous PGA events including the South African Open, on five memorable occasions and the South African Amateur Open, ten.
The late Bobby Locke compared Humewood to the best amongst the British Isle links courses and thought of the course as the best in South Africa. Even saying that Humewood would be the course of choice should the British Open ever be hosted outside of Britain. High praise from such a man.
The Championship course has undulating fairways that have been widened to accommodate the wind which can blow fiercely, the greens run fast and the roughs are mostly of dense coastal bush which are unforgiving to the wayward stroke. Make no mistake, Humewood is one the most challenging courses in the country and it wears the badge with pride.
Humewood extend their warm welcome to all golfers and invite you to enjoy a round on the course which is also shared by monkeys, small buck, tortoises, meerkats and plovers.
