Crown Mines Golf Course, Crown Mines,
Johannesburg: Booysens Reserve Road, Crown Mines, Johannesburg. South Africa is
famous for its gold, and Crown Mines Golf Club is built in genuine mining country, just a
few kilometres southeast of central Johannesburg.
Less than 2 kilometres away from the course is Gold Reef
City which boasts among its attractions a 19th-century-style hotel and pub, the
biggest roller coaster ride in the country and deep mine shaft open to the public every
day.
The Golf Course: The course itself is truly a gem. Eleven of the 18 holes feature
water hazards, making the 6 914-metre par-72 layout challenging, aesthetically pleasing
and abundant in bird life. The course presents a challenge to golfers but also offers
rustic charms that can be appreciated while walking the long layout.
