It is just a short 5 minute drive from Sandton City. Strathavon Bed & Breakfast is easily accessible via either the M1 motorway, the main link between Johannesburg and Pretoria or the N3 National Highway. OR Tambo International is approximately a half hour drive away. The wooded suburb of Sandown Estates is a well-established area in Sandton Central. The homes in this sought after area, are set in large quiet gardens, a rare find in this busy city. Lush lawns and exquisitely maintained gardens surround the Guest House. There is a large sparkling pool and sun deck, which the guests have full access to. The communal braai area is available to all the guests who seek to truly dine the South African way, by throwing a couple of steaks on an open fire and allowing the aroma to tempt your neighbours. There are two guest lounges. The Library Lounge is a tranquil retreat after a busy day. There is a well-stocked library and plenty of board games for those quiet lazy afternoons. The TV Guest Lounge is a good spot to curl up in front of the TV and watch a good movie. Early morning breakfast is served in the dining room. For those who require a table d houte evening meal, this can be arranged with your hosts. There is a communal kitchen which all guests have full access to. AccommodationThere are five en-suite rooms. They are all private and some have external entrances, whilst others share a communal staircase to the upstairs suites. They are comfortably furnished with single / double beds, televisions, tea and coffee making facilities. Each room has its own ensuite bathroom. Rose and Maroela have a shower, toilet and wash basin, whilst Fern, Tambotie and Jacaranda have full bathrooms, complete with bath, shower, toilet and wash basin. There is one self contained cottage (Willow Cottage) and one flatlet (Baobab). illow Cottage (Max Occupancy 2 Adults and 2 children) This cottage is set back on the property and is very private. There is a sunny patio where guests can soak up the sun. The lounge / kitchen area has everything one needs to make this beautifully furnished cottage a home, whether for a day or for a month. The lounge is equipped with two comfortable couches, one of which converts into a three-quarter sized bed. The fully fitted kitchen has stove, microwave, fridge / freezer and all cutlery and crockery. The bedroom is furnished with a queen sized bed, comfortable chairs and a desk with internet connectivity. There is a small ensuite bathroom, complete with shower, toilet and wash basin. Baobab Suite (Max Occupancy 4 Adults) Is a large two bedroom upstairs flatlet with a small TV lounge. The Gold Bedroom is furnished with two single beds, pushed together to make up a king, while the Blue Room has two single beds. There is one full bathroom, complete with shower, bath, toilet and washbasin. In the lounge area is a television, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. Basic cutlery and crockery are available. The communal guest kitchen, which is fully equipped, is situated downstairs from the flatlet. This family run established is truly a unique find in Sandton. Its cosmopolitan guests have become regular visitors, many too have become good friends, but all have departed feeling rested and happy to have found a home away from home ADDITIONAL FacilitiesInternet hotspot available in all rooms. |

DIRECTIONS: From Rivonia Road and Grayston Drive(McDonalds on Cnr) Traveling South from the direction of Rivonia, towards Sandton. At the intersection of Rivonia and Grayston, turn left into Grayston Drive and travel towards the M1 Motorway (going Downhill) Go through Four sets of Traffic Lights: - Grayston and Webber - Grayston and Daisy - Grayston and Helen (Grayston Shopping centre on Left Hand side) - Grayston and Linden (Stay in far left lane) After the 4th set of lights follow signs down slip road to the left onto Katherine Street (Renault Car Dealership is on Left) At the end of the slip road turn left onto Katherine At 2nd traffic lights turn left into Harris Road (Go through the security Booms) Dion Road is the 4th Road on Right hand side, go all the way to the top of the road (the road narrows) you are now in Dion Close, The Bed and Breakfast is No. 34. From N3 Highway Take the Marlboro Drive off Ramp. If your traveling from Pretoria, turn right at the end of the off-ramp and travel back over the highway. If you are traveling from the South / Airport / Durban, at the end of the off-ramp turn left. Cross over the following intersections: - Marlboro Drive and Northway (Sasol Garage on Left) - Marlboro Drive and Southway - Marlboro Drive and South Road (Shell Garage on left) - Marlboro Drive and Old Pretoria Main Road - Marlboro Drive and on/off-ramp to M1 South Motorway (travel under the highway) - Marlboro Drive and on/off ramp to M1 North Motorway Keep to the left hand side of the road, at the next intersection, Marlboro Drive and Katherine Ave, take the slip road to the left. Go though one set of traffic lights (Entrance to an office park) At the next set of traffic lights, Katherine Ave and Harris Roads, turn right. Enter the suburb Sandown Estates - and go through the security booms. Take the fourth road on the RIGHT hand side Dion Road The road will narrow towards the top and it becomes a Cul de Sac. We are situated at the bottom of the road Number 34. From M1 Highway Take the Grayston Drive Off-Ramp. If your traveling from Pretoria, turn right at the end of the off-ramp and travel back over the highway. If you are traveling from the South / Johannesburg, at the end of the off-ramp turn left. Stay in the Far left hand lane Take the slip road to Katherine Ave. At the end of the slip road (Traffic Lights), City Lodge & a Garage will be in front of you, turn right, under the Grayston Drive Bridge You are now on Katherine Ave, traveling away from Sandton, towards Marlboro Drive. Renault Sandton will be on your left, Nissan will be on your right. Go though one set of traffic lights (Entrance to an office park) At the next set of traffic lights, Katherine Ave and Harris Roads, turn left Enter the suburb Sandown Estates - and go through the security booms.
