DESCRIPTION:
Nestled at the base of the magical Magaliesberg Mountains, Mokoya Lodge is an enchanting venue that welcomes both corporate and private guests wanting personalised attention in a secluded, tranquil setting.
Whether you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, spacious teambuilding venue, equipped conference facility, charismatic wedding venue or an adventure in nature; we offer it to you in a cosy, convenient and picturesque environment that is less than an hour’s drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Mokoya Lodge will create lingering impressions on you in a home-away-from-home setting situated just far enough away from the hustle (and hassles) of the city yet within comfortable driving distance to allow you to relax and unwind in the most peaceful countryside.
Positioned on 27 hectares of landscaped gardens and natural bushveld, Mokoya is a sanctuary for diverse birdlife and a haven for the nature enthusiast. An oasis of adventures and nature activities awaits you at Mokoya where you can share memorable evenings in the captivating function lapa or the boma bonfire, meander along carefully chosen nature trails and enjoy heart-warming home-cooked meals from our international chef.
Accommodation
With 16 spacious cottage-style rooms (up to 34 guests sharing), all en-suite, and one charming honeymoon cottage; Mokoya offers inviting and affordable comfort in individually decorated rooms set amongst the African trees.
Sweet Thyme Restaurant
Our Sweet Thyme Restaurant creates luscious, nourishing dishes for guests who want to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner whilst taking in the peaceful mountain view. From fillet with a Belgian chilli-chocolate sauce to salmon on vanilla risotto with almond broccoli; and treats like maize-dumplings in poppy seed custard, our chef will ensure every meal is a delight to indulge in.
Guests can also enjoy feasts in the charming banqueting Lapa, or around the bush boma fire where catering is designed to suit palate and pocket. Day-visitors are welcome to enjoy the ambience and cuisine for lunch and dinner (for food this good, bookings are essential).
Conferences and Events
Ideal for training and strategy sessions as well as team-building exercises; Mokoya is uniquely suited to bring together groups of people who want to optimise work performance, build sustainable teams, produce sound leaders and enhance work/life balance.
We offer breakaway rooms, vast open lawn and woodland areas and equipped conference facilities for up to 40 delegates. If required, we are able to offer the services of talented international facilitators who provide business training and coaching programs that include:
Team-Building; Time Management; Stress and Anger Management; Vocal Coaching; Presentation Skills; Leadership Training; Change Management; Sales Training; Developing EQ (emotional intelligence) and Corporate Well-being.
Weddings and Functions
Mokoya provides a quaint setting for exclusive, intimate celebrations for up to 120 guests with the majestic Magaliesberg Mountains as a backdrop. Specialising in a 2day affair, we encourage the bride and groom to stay over and enjoy creating memories with close friends and family.
The alluring elegance of the banqueting lapa is a splendid venue for dinner, dancing and entertainment. An outdoor or indoor chapel can be set up at the lodge to provide a unique venue which hosts the wedding ceremony and after celebration at the same location.
Bridal couples are able to choose between a natural or classical setting in which to have the ceremony. Being flexible, we are able to host a variety of personalised functions. The property boasts an array of photographic opportunities in nature, using relics like the romantic old tractor and the 1950’s character red brick shed.
Activities
Mokoya is part of the North West Province tourism birding route with birders flocking to view rich birdlife on the lodge’s walking trails. Other Mokoya activities include: yoga, massage therapies; mountain-biking trails, picnicking, swimming, volleyball and badminton.
Additional activities offered nearby include: hot-air ballooning; hiking up the mountain, abseiling down the mountain; microlighting; horse-ridings; quad-biking, big 5 game drives, elephant touch and feed, etc.
Whether you’re popping in for a weekend lunch, staying over for a few nights, or choosing Mokoya Lodge as a venue of choice for your function, we’re positive you’ll love the old-school warmth, hospitality, and personalised service that create those memorable Mokoya experiences. |
