Minutes away from Sandton City, and even less from Fourways Mall, lies an unexpectedly beautiful recreation of an 18th century Cape Dutch homestead in an "island" of green tranquillity. De Kuilen combines the warmth and graciousness of traditional Cape Dutch hospitality with all modern comforts in one of Johannesburg’s most convenient northern suburbs – perfectly positioned for a peaceful setting and a spacious venue for relaxation. Your hosts offer you a warm welcome with security, privacy and tranquillity.

ACCOMMODATION


Guests may choose to stay in either of the three large and charmingly appointed cottages: Birdsong Cottage, Pomegranate Cottage and Arum Cottage. All the cottages are very large, self-contained and tranquil, set in their own gardens, fragrant with roses and herbs.

You may also choose to have breakfast served on your own private garden veranda, or in the rose-filled courtyard of the main house. For other meals you may wish to take advantage of the excellent self-catering facilities. Perhaps indulge yourself with a memorable gourmet dinner, Provençal in feeling, preceded by conversation by the fire in Winter, and in Summer, drinks in alfresco ambience.

Another pleasant option is to stay in one of our two smaller, 4-star, (TGCSA Graded) bed & breakfast suites called "The Tree Houses." Spacious and romantic, The Tree House has a roof garden and fountains. Elegant Dovecote (single cottage) has a small study, a garden and a covered veranda.

Arum Cottage
Arum Cottage consists of two en-suite bedrooms, a cozy lounge, with fireplace, a beautifully equipped kitchenette and private veranda for outdoor dining. Sleeps family of 4. Can also be divided into 2 separate cottages: Lavender suite has an upstairs bedroom and cosy lounge with fireplace and covered veranda. Arum Lily suite has a magnificent romantic four-poster draped bed, a kitchenette and a conservatory lounge with fireplace.

Birdsong Luxury Cottage
Birdsong Cottage consists of one bedroom, a full kitchen, a large private lounge/dining room leading on to your outdoor living area.

Pomegranate Luxury Cottage
Beloved of honeymooners, this beautiful large room has an exquisite decor, with imported fabrics, a romantically draped bed, original art and Persian rugs, a double bathroom including a jacuzzi in a lushly planted conservatory.

From OR Tambo International Airport
As you leave OR Tambo International Airport take JOHANNESBURG FORK TO RIGHT: R24 (N3).
After about 9 km look out for a large overhead sign to Germiston / Johannesburg/Pretoria.
AT 10.4 KM TAKE LEFT FORK at the sign (Germiston / Johannesburg / Pretoria) then IMMEDIATE RIGHT FORK (Johannesburg / Pretoria)
THEN QUARTER CLOVER-LEAF TURN LEFT ONTO N3 (Pretoria).
(All in one.)
(Avoid "London Rd., Sandton" turnoff.)
At about 15 km there is a Johannesburg sign to left. DO NOT TAKE THIS, ALSO AVOID PRETORIA OFF-RAMP
CONTINUE STRAIGHT ON, IN MIDDLE OR RIGHT HAND LANE MARKED ROODEPOORT.
After about 2 km you will see the off-ramp BEFORE OURS (100, SANDTON, Rivonia road). After this keep to left.
ABOUT 5 KM FURTHER TAKE OFF-RAMP 95, SANDTON, WILLIAM NICHOL DRIVE.
AFTER WILLIAM NICHOL OFF-RAMP, TURN RIGHT IMMEDIATELY towards Fourways, at 1st traffic-light. There is another traffic-light shortly, at the end of the bridge over freeway. (2nd)
AT NEXT (3rd) TRAFFIC-LIGHT, about 800m from off-ramp, TURN LEFT INTO LESLIE AVENUE. CONTINUE THROUGH a stop street then a TRAFFIC LIGHT (Douglas Drive), at petrol station and shops.
AT NEXT TRAFFIC LIGHT, just after SANDTON BIBLE CHURCH sign, TURN RIGHT INTO GLENLUCE DRIVE. Please fill in security form at BOOM ACROSS ROAD. Just before the curve in the road you will see the tall, white arch over our gate on the right hand side.
Look out for sign at gate, "DE KUILEN J.C. MOLTENO".
