DESCRIPTION:

Posed on the vast shores of the Vaal Dam in Deneysville, Lakeview on Vaal offers two separate apartments on the top floor of an understated, waterfront complex. Sitting just 70m from the water’s edge, Lakeview’s eco-friendly edifice presides over the bay, providing a bird’s eye view of the Dam Wall, South Bay and the Peninsula.

Self Catering Accommodation: Penthouses all round

Cosy Corner:
Ideal for couples, this corner apartment offers an intimate, double-room (self-catering). Strictly for twos this apartment is available with its own inter-leading Jacuzzi room, with retractable roof, and bush shower and a 180 degree view over the water.

Pamper yourselves for the whole weekend. Enjoy a double bedroom with kitchenette (optional) and adjoining bathroom. The veranda, overlooking the shoreline, has a common access but a kettle braai is supplied for your exclusive use. The common property has water access, secure with parking for cars, trailers, boats, quads. Boat launching and cruises available.

West Side:
Catering for bigger groups, West Side is another apartment on the property with a bird's eye view of the Dam, boasting a jacuzzi lolling over the lip of the water, two to three, double bedrooms (with bathrooms on suite), plus spacious lounge and open-plan kitchen with sleeper nooks for the kids. It is ideal for a family or group of intimate friends getting together to chill out together in their own, private facility Once again the common property has water access, secure with parking for cars, trailers, boats, quads.

Additional activities include comfy caravans at the water's edge (so hubby can fish in eye shot while wife enjoys the luxury of a spa bath). Boat launching and cruises are also available on request.

The Penthouse:
Larger parties are ideal for the Penthouse (minimum four adults) the penthouse apartment is a large, three-double bed-roomed flat on the third floor (there are some steps to climb but the views are worth it). In addition there is a grand, open-plan lounge-dining-room; expansive bar and games room; basic kitchen; sleeper nook for the kids and a separate, Jacuzzi room.

Here your party will enjoy the luxury of having the whole 220 square meter apartment to yourselves and all the facilities will be available, if you wish, for your private use (self-catering). We have three double bedrooms. Bathroom facilities include three toilets, two showers and a corner bath with a prized view overlooking the water - there is also a private sleeping nook so everyone can enjoy their own space.

The views of the water and surrounds are great! The apartment and kitchen are equipped and crisp clean linen and blankets are provided but kindly bring your own towels.

Facilities

Facilities available are DStv (Compact) or we can upgrade (we supply the DSTV full package at an extra cost per day or you can bring your own box at no extra charge); a pool table and table tennis can be made available for you, if you wish to use them. We offer a newly built-in braai facility upstairs with potjie facilities and views of the tranquil gardens (which doubles-up as a wonderful fireplace with its proximity to the open-plan dining room / lounge!)

Alternatively, braai or picnic downstairs at the water (kindly bring along your own potjie pots as we have found guests like them cured in different ways!)
Our Comphy Caravans at the water's edge is a unique extension of facilities we can offer groups who wish to fish right at the water's edge. They are full equipped, fired up and ready to roll. Those fishermen, rowers or boaters in the party can park off at the shore and play all day, with the option of returning to civilization later, or alternatively enjoy night fishing with all the amenities laid on.

For the not so adventurous the Jacuzzi with a retractable roof (for sun bathing and star gazing) and a small wall heater for your comfort at night (petitioned by a one-way-glass, sliding picture door for your privacy) leads off the games room.

There is a charge for Jacuzzi preparation (chemicals, cleaning and heating for one session over your stay), so let us know if you wish to have it warmed up in time for your arrival. Thereafter, we provide you with the pay meter coupon numbers for you to punch in and use the Jacuzzi as often as you wish.

There is also a small usage fee for the pool table and accessories as well as the table tennis, for the duration of your stay with net, bats and balls provided. We will have this set up for you on the sunny enclosed balcony so you can play throughout your stay.

All of these are optional extras so if you do not wish to use them there is no extra charge. (We like to mention these extras so there are then no surprises!)

Activities

We are adjacent to the waterfront recreation grounds, there is a short 70 meter walk to the water and there are more braai facilities available there too. Access via the pedestrian gate for walks, bird watching or picnics, braaing and fishing is free of charge, however, the recreation grounds are controlled by our local council and there are charges (so you may be approached by a parks monitor over weekends).

There are also boat launch facilities and other fishing sites in the vicinity (if you are bringing along your boat) about 1km away there is a jetty. There is a charge for one car and boat for the entire weekend, launch as often as you like. For those interested in a cruise this can be arranged on a cat or a yacht, charters are available.

The complex Lakeview is fenced and gated and most secure so bring along bikes and quads if you so wish. And we are pet friendly.

If you have any questions feel free to call - bring along your towels and provisions although we have pubs, restaurants and marinas within walking distance and shops, butcheries and bottle stores for your groceries in the village. And we are just 30km from Emerald Casino / Ascot on Vaal racecourse.

So if you want to fish, boat, get together with friends and family or just chill do come along and spend some time at the water - the sunsets and moon rises are fabulous!

CURRENT RATES / BOOKING FORM:

Available at: http://www.sa-venues.com/visit/lakeviewonvaal/rates.php
DIRECTIONS:

We are one hour from Johannesburg on the southern side of the bridge at the Dam Wall, Free State province, along the R549 (Heidelberg connection). Alternatively, you can reach us via the N3 (Durban), by traveling towards Villiers but hiving off about five KM before the toll gate and taking the R54 to Vereeniging.

Another route, which was the preferred route from the Alberton direction, is the R59 (Sasolburg), taking the Deneysville (R716) offramp. Don't take the R716, it is under extensive construction which creates long waiting periods.

Instead of taking the Deneysville offramp, off the R59, carry on to Sasolburg, on the R57 (Heilbron) road. Bypass Sasolburg, on the far side of the town there is a four-way-stop. Pass over the stop, continuing towards Heilbron and take the Deneysville slip road. Deneysville is 17km, straight down this road.

We are 50km from Heidelberg; 30km from Vereeniging and 25km from Vanderbijlpark and Sasolburg and are within a stone's throw of Balfour and Secunda. We are less than two-hours away, by road, from Pretoria and three hours from Bloemfontein.
