In the shadow of the majestic Platberg Mountain, lies the realization of a life-long dream. Owned and operated by former flight attendant, Amanda Weyers, Amadudu Guesthouse offers all amenities a traveller might need - with a personal touch. All of the family are involved in making this guesthouse as close to a home as you can be while away from home.

Amadudu Guesthouse is centrally situated in Harrsimith, close to the N3 freeway and halfway between Durban and Johannesburg. We have been in operation for a little bit longer than a year and most of the feedback we get from guests is about our cleanliness and warm hospitality. Our manager has many years experience in the hospitality - and catering industry and has a lovely, warm South African personality. We truly strive to exceed your expectations and guests often leave as friends.

Accommodation


Bed & Breakfast Rooms
Well equipped rooms with luxurious beds and bed linen ensure a very comfortable stay. Three of our 5 rooms have en-suite bathrooms and the other two rooms have privately allocated bathrooms and the rates are less than the en-suite rooms. Our rooms are equipped with TV, coffee and tea facilities, refrigerator, hair dryer, radio / alarm clock, to name a few. We provide toiletries and luxurious bath towels.

Self Catering Unit
Our self-catering unit has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, lounge and bedroom in an open-plan bachelor style apartment. It has a private entrance and carport. The luxury en-suite room hides a romantic, Victorian bath behind a hand-painted wooden roomdivider.

Facilities


There is a garden with lovely views of Platberg Mountain and a porch for guests to relax or enjoy their complimentary sherry on arrival. Our property is very secure, with surrounding wall and electric gates, as well as motion detection lasers on the exterior of the house. Armed response is just a button click away and we provide safe, carport parking for vehicles.

Location


Harrismith has a rich, interesting history and beautiful historic buildings, all nesting in the shadow of the majestic Platberg Mountain. Harrismith is a beautiful town close to the Drakensberg Mountains, Golden Gate National Park, Royal Natal National Park, Sterkfontein Dam and the beautiful, artistic town of Clarens. Old Boer war battlefields and historical places are within easy reach for example Spionkop and Ladysmith and voortrekker historical site like Retiefklip. Wild game like eland, black wildebeest and blesbok provide for great hunting opportunities in the area.

Harrismith has one of the oldest golf courses in the country and also offers a large swimming pool, gymnasium, squash courts and courts. It is ideal for cycling and running and hosts events like the annual Bergbohaai and mountain bike challenge. The annual Rhino Rally has been hosted successfully for the past three years by Harrismith and the Woodstock Music Festival also has its home here.

Quaint coffee shops, art & craft shops and interesting shopping nooks, as well as the beautiful botanical gardens are just some of the activities to keep one occupied here. For the more adventurous there are four by four trails, quad bike and mountain bike clubs available. Fishing, hiking and skiing are all available at the nearby Sterkfontein Dam and surrounding areas.

DIRECTIONS:

As you are travelling from Johannesburg towards Durban, take the second Harrismith offramp ( first Harrismith offramp from Durban side ) and turn right where you exit freeway. Go straight at first stop street. At the next traffic light where Spur Steakranch is on your left, turn right into McKechnie Street. Turn immediately right again into King Street. Continue on in King Street, go straight at 2 stopsigns. The road turns to to left 90 degrees, immediately afterwards mak a hairpin turn to the right. Go underneath the bridge and turn left at first street, Blesbok Street. Amadudu Guesthouse will be the first house to your right.
