6 Day Themba Kruger Safari and Panorama Route is a 6 day / 5 night package tour by Themba Day Tours & Safaris

Day 1: Johannesburg (or Pretoria) to Kruger National Park
Depart Johannesburg taking the scenic route through the Highveld travelling East to the Lowveld, making your way to the Thornhill Safari Lodge with a beautiful view of the Drakensberg Escarpment and bordering Big Five private game reserves. There are African markets at various places along the Panorama Route and there will be time for passengers wishing to buy curios. After a late lunch at the Thornhill Safari Lodge with the excitement of the untamed bush it is time to join the open vehicle for the afternoon/evening drive at Thornybush Big Five Reserve followed by a traditional South African dinner.

Day 2: Kruger National Park
Early morning start, driving to the Kruger in an open vehicle with your guide. Enter the Kruger at Orpen gate for an exciting day game viewing looking for elephant, giraffe, zebra, hippo and many other species. You will quickly learn how to spot the animals in the bush and your guide will make sure that you have easy access for photos or videos on all the game drives. Enjoy a packed picnic breakfast at a picnic area. Spend an. Lunch will be at one of the rest camps within the park. You will return to Thornhill Safari Lodge in the late afternoon after a full day of game viewing. After a refreshing swim enjoy a typical traditional bushveld dinner. If it is not a full moon get a chance to see the Southern Cross and other southern hemisphere stars in the truly clear sky.

Day 3: Kruger National Park
After a leisurely breakfast at the lodge your guide will drive you in the comfort of our air conditioned microbus to visit places of local interest like the Nyani Tribal Village, which is described as the soul of Africa. After a lunch break in Hoedspruit we make our way to Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre, which has become a haven for the rehabilitation & care of abandoned, injured & poisoned wildlife. Then it is back to the lodge for a swim & rest before a boma dinner.

Day 4: Kruger National Park
Early morning start, driving to the Kruger in an open vehicle with your guide, hoping to find some of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino & buffalo). Enjoy a packed bush breakfast and regular stops at the various rest camps in Kruger and then continue to look for hippos, crocodiles and birds. There will be time for lunch and shopping at one of the rest camps. Return to the lodge in the afternoon, relax, and enjoy a sundowner before dinner.

Day 5: Kruger National Park to Hazyview
After a delicious breakfast it is time to pack up and leave the lodge for a full day drive along the world famous Panorama Route seeing the magnificent Blyde River Canyon and the Three Rondavels, God's Window, the Lisbon or Berlin waterfall and Bourke's Luck Potholes if the time permits it. There are African markets at various places along the Panorama Route and there will be time for passengers wishing to buy curios. Overnight will be at the Numbi, Hazyview or Hippo Hollow Country Hotel with nice gardens, a swimming pool and a very good restaurant.

Day 6: Hazyview to Johannesburg
A leisurely breakfast and we make our way home, visiting Pilgrims Rest, a historic old gold mining town that has been declared a national monument. Gold was discovered here in 1873 and many of the houses and shops plus the famous Royal Hotel have been restored to former glory. Arrive in Johannesburg at about 17.00 after an unforgettable 6 day experience.
