You’ll experience all the extraordinary beauty of the Garden Route. A classic tour of the Garden Route starting in Cape Town and ending in the friendly city of Port Elizabeth. You take in all the highlights from the evocative, sepia-tinged landscapes of the Klein Karoo to jewel bright greens and blues of the forests and lagoons.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Cape Town to Oudtshoorn
Travel through Montagu, a historic spa town, and the ‘Little Karoo’. Enjoy a wine tasting, along Route 62, known as “The World’s Longest Wine Route”. In the town of Barrydale, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a local farm school, interact with the children and teachers, spending time with them in the classroom learning more about the local farming community, before continuing to Oudtshoorn, the “ostrich feather capital” and centre of the world’s Ostrich farming industry. Day 2: Oudtshoorn to Knysna
This morning you’ll visit the spectacular limestone caverns of the Cango Caves, one of the world’s great natural wonders, sculpted by nature through the ages. Continue over the Outeniqua Pass to George, travel via Victoria Bay to Wilderness, an attractive holiday resort with beautiful beaches. In the afternoon you’ll reach Knysna, nestled on the banks of a beautiful lagoon. [B]

Day 3: Knysna
Leisurely start before lagoon cruise to Featherbed Nature Reserve, trailer ride to top of Western Head, and walk back through Milkwood trees for lunch (included). Afternoon at leisure. [BL]

Day 4: Knysna
Today you’ll have the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the Knysna area; the Garden of Eden, set in the lush, green, indigenous Knysna forest of yellow wood trees, thick green foliage and streams; Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, home to a variety of primates, roaming free in the forest; the Eastern Head, where you will enjoy spectacular views of the Knysna Heads (weather permitting); Brenton on Sea, a breathtaking holiday location and a nature lover’s paradise with its unspoilt beaches and peaceful surroundings. The remainder of the afternoon will be at leisure. [B]

Day 5: Knysna to Tsitsikamma
Travel to Plettenberg Bay, before visiting Birds of Eden sanctuary, the biggest single free flight aviary in the world, developed to create a safe environment in which to release a large collection of free-flight African birds. Continue to Bloukrans Bridge, currently offering the highest commercially operated bungy jump in the world. Visit the Tsitsikamma National Park and Storms River Mouth (weather permitting). The Tsitsikamma National Park incorporates 80 km of rocky coastline with spectacular sea and landscapes, a remote mountainous region with secluded valleys covered in mountain Fynbos and temperate high forests with deep river gorges leading down to the sea. Day 6: Tsitsikamma to Port Elizabeth
Head eastwards along the Tsitsikamma Forest to Port Elizabeth, known as the “friendly city”, with a wonderful climate and its well known oceanarium and snake house (for own account). Enjoy a city orientation tour of Port Elizabeth, where the tour ends on arrival. [B]
Guests may disembark, on request, at Port Elizabeth Airport.
