Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg International Airport to Mpumalanga
We’ll meet your flight at the Johannesburg (now OR Tambo) International Airport from where we’ll take a leisurely drive through the highveld plains to the Drakensberg Mountains in Mpumalanga (The Place of the Rising Sun). Along this panoramic route we’ll enjoy some really magnificent scenery, including stops at places like The Three Rondavels, Bourkes Luck Potholes, Gods Window and the spectacular Berlin, Lisbon and Graskop Falls. Our accommodation tonight will be at Autumn Breath, a mountain retreat where ‘the air smells like air and the water tastes like water’.

Overnight: Autumn Breath Mountain Retreat

Day 2: Drakensberg Mountains, Mpumalanga to Timbavati Game Reserve
After a typically sumptuous South African breakfast we’ll continue our exploration of the mountains eventually arriving at Pezulu Tree House Game Lodge in the early afternoon.
Ideally situated in a game rich area this unique private game reserve offers en-suite accommodation in reed and thatch tree houses, where you’ll be able to sit on your private balcony and watch the wildlife wondering by below – an unforgettable experience. As an exciting option you’ll have the opportunity of game viewing from a micro-lite aircraft (not included in your tour price).

Overnight: Pezulu Tree House Game Lodge

Day 3: Timbavati Game Reserve to Kruger National Park
We’ll enter the Kruger National Park at about midday. Our days of game spotting in this amazing Game Park will afford us the opportunity of seeing lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard, black-backed jackal, cheetah, hyena, baboon, monkey, warthog, crocodile, hippo, giraffe, zebra, mongoose, tree squirrel and a huge assortment of antelope, including impala, kudu, waterbuck, steenbok, bushbuck, klipspringer and wildebeest. The bird life is clearly very prolific and far too numerous to mention by species. There’ll be time to relax with a cocktail before dinner, which will take the form of a traditional South African Braai (Barbecue). Please do not be concerned, we specialise at this sort of catering, so you won’t be subjected to “burnt offerings”. Expect to hear wonderful tales and facts about Africa, the Kruger Park and its wildlife from your guide.

Overnight: Camp in the Kruger Park

Day 4: Kruger National Park
An early morning game drive will get us to a mountain lookout where we will have a breakfast braai while we enjoy magnificent views of the Lebombo Mountains (the border between Mozambique and South Africa). Today our game drives will incorporate some really attractive scenery on the way to the Sabie River Camp, where we will spend the next two nights on the banks of this majestic river.

Overnight: Sabie River Camp

Day 5: Kruger National Park
Today we will start with an optional game walk accompanied by two armed rangers. Although very safe there is a huge difference coming face to face with rhino, elephant etc. while on foot instead of being in the safety and comfort of a vehicle, an experience you will treasure for the rest of your life! The rest of the day will be spent on additional game drives and/or relaxing in the shade on the banks of the river. Tonight, as you retire, listening to the sounds of the African night you will dream of this wonderful place called Africa, knowing that you have experienced something truly special.

Overnight: Kruger National Park

Day 6: Kruger National Park to Johannesburg
A visit to some of the watering holes on the way out will round off a perfectly splendid adventure in this most amazing Game Park. Although we will be taking a different route, we will still be able to enjoy some really beautiful scenery on the way back to Jo’Burg.

Overnight: AfricaSky Guesthouse

Day 7: Johannesburg to Midrand
Today we’ll begin with a ‘whistle stop’ visit to Soweto (South Western Township) the political hotspot of the 70’s, on the way to Lesedi. Nestled in the foothills of the Magaliesberg Mountains lies Lesedi, a village, where Zulus, Xhosa, Pedi and Basotho families live in their traditional homes. We will enjoy a visit steeped in folklore and ancient traditions, including some awesome tribal dancing. This fascinating tour is rounded off with a culturally diverse 'buffet spectacular'. Included in this tour is a visit to a genuine flea market (where the artifacts and crafts are made by the local, rural people).
Your tour will sadly come to an end in Midrand at about 17h00.
