Tour Description
Tour to Hermanus: Observe the Whales a few metres from the shore at one of Africa's best whale-watching points, Hermanus. Cape Rainbow Tours will take you to the quaint seaside village of Hermanus on the Southern coast of South Africa near the latitude where the two great oceans converge. Here, you will have a total feel of the emergence of land, sea and the Rainbow culture of the Western Cape. You will experience a bond with the whales from the most exciting land based whale watching venue in the world! Each year Southern Right whales among other species migrate into the coastal waters to calve and nurse their young. The animals, mere metres from the shore, provide an unsurpassed whale watching opportunity from the beginning of August to the beginning of December. The Scenic Coastal Route includes Cape Hangklip, Harold Porter Botanical Gardens, Hermanus and Sir Lowry's Pass.
Full Day Tour:
An extended 300km tour that takes about 9 hours. This tour is normally done via Gordons Bay along the South Coast Road passing Cape Hangklip to Hermanus. We return on the inland road over Sir Lowry's Pass.
Harold Porter Botanical Gardens:
A short stopover at this World famous institution on the way to the whales goes down well with the Visitors.
Season:
Although the whales migrate to our coast during the period from July - November, they are often seen during the month before and after this period. We however advise you to, if possible, confine your whale-watching booking to the July - November period to avoid disappointment.
