Did you know that in South Africa approximated 1 in 5 people over the age of 35 have type 2 diabetes and what is worse more that 50% are unaware of this. Want to do something to raise awareness of this? Well then take part in the Global Diabetes Run/Walk. Not only will you be creating awareness to the need of worldwide action, but you will also be encouraging the low cost physical activity of walking. Walking is one step to leading a healthier, balanced life, which is a very important part of treatment for patients with diabetes.
Many prizes to be won and various activites and demonstrations taking place. Such as a dance demonstration and a high tempo soccer training demo. Testing tents for blood pressure and glucose will be available from 07h00. A variety of stands and healthy food stalls will also be available.
Venue: Moullie Point Light House, Green Point, Cape Town
Entry Fee: R30 for adults, R20 for children and R80 for 2 adults + 2 children under 12 years. There are discounted rates for DSA members.
