A visit to the Magoebaskloof Spring Festival in September is a wonderful way to celebrate spring. The festival takes place at the Magoebaskloof Hotel and in the historic village of Haenertsburg.
At the hotel there will be displays of pottery, ceramics, glass craft, wood craft, mosaics, wrought iron, designer clothing, home décor and jewellery. There will also be hands-on craft demos.
The food hall will offer a mouth-watering array of organic cheeses, home-made preserves, pickles and jams, nuts, biscuits and dried fruit. A spectacular display of orchids will be open from September 24th on the lawns of the hotel. These exquisite plants will also be for sale.
The village hall will have a variety of stalls displaying anything from home-made soaps to organic and herbal potions and lotions, clothing, books and décor items and food. There will also be a jumping castle and a forestry competition in the village.
Cheerio Gardens is famed for its Japanese flowering cherry blossoms, azaleas and crab apples. Visitors can stroll through the gardens and then enjoy teas or light meals overlooking a dam.
Haenertsburg hosts cozy pubs, friendly restaurants and coffee shops as well as a number of shops where visitors can browse for arts, crafts, antiques, collectibles and books.
Visitors can go horse riding, mountain biking, picnicking or rambling in the forests, take a sunset cruise on Ebenezer Dam, go bird watching and fly fishing or thrill to adventure sports or explore the fascinating history of the area.
