About the Berg and Bush Event

Challenge your mountain biking skills in the Grindrod Bank Berg & Bush event. This event has cyclists tackling a route from the exquisite Drakensberg Escarpment (near Harrismith) and right down into the bushveld below Winterton in the KwaZulu-Natal Province. The views are breath-taking and the course exciting.

The Event is divided into three adventures

1. THE DESCENT (31 May)
This is the main event and covers 209 kilometres. Challenging climbs, steep descents, and single-track courses through the farmlands make this a must for riders looking to push themselves and compete against others.

2. Trail and Tour
With fewer riders, this event is fabulous for the experienced cyclist that wants to take his or her time. But, there is plenty of adventure on this route. The course is the same as the Descent event, but with a more laid-back pace.

3. THE 2-DAY (8 June)
This 110 kilometre route is ideal for families and friends that want to test their endurance and skill without the pressure of the three-day events. It has a social and relaxed ambience, but is still challenging in spots and an achievement to be proud of.

Along the way, riders will camp under the shade of the trees and on the banks of the gorgeous Tugela River in a well-equipped site. The Grindrod Bank Berg & Bush is a must for riders that want to combine their love for the outdoors with a sense of adventure from the saddle; and will earn you bragging rights and unbeatable memories.
