Cape Town Big Band Jazz Festival

Location: Rondebosch, Cape Town

Founded in 1999 by the late Dennis Barr this festival is a community outreach programme in support of music education in big band jazz for school and college students.

The proceeds from the festival go towards scholarships in a number of programmes such as sponsorship of a music teacher at Manenberg High School for their Steelband Project and many other such programmes.

There have also been a number of musical instruments donated to Athlone Music Academy, York Road Primary School and Eluxolweni Primary School to name but a few.

This festival provides a platform for young musicians to showcase their talent as well as encouraging them to develop their talents further.

Jazz Bands from Cape Town Schools as well as the UCT Big Band will be performing over the 3 day festival.
