Northern Arts Festival
Dates: 21 Sep 2013 to 24 Sep 2013
Location: Port Elizabeth
The 6th inaugural Northern Arts Festival will be staged at Port Elizabeth’s Van Der Kemps Kloof, located in Bethelsdorp. Bethelsdorp is in the heart of Port Elizabeth and has a unique and colourful history that somehow has been lost through the years. Many modest, but nevertheless impressive buildings have survived since the 19th Century and can be viewed in this settlement.
The Northern Arts Festival is bridging the divide between community development and the arts. Music has obviously always provided the beat for the people of the north to ease away the hardship they have been enduring and is a stimulant for new challenges! To this extend, a feature of social life in this area has always been a great following for music and music related events. The Northern Arts Festival gives exposure to the wealth of local talent in the as well as feature successful acts and personalities from the area. All these will certainly have a positive knock on effect for the greater good.
Various government exhibitors, community crafters, musicians, businesses, food vendors and other participants will again participate to make this event one of the top highlights of the Eastern Cape. We have already secured major sponsorships with both local and national media. The main print media sponsor is Die Burger, who will again be covering all the activities before, during and after the event. Kingfisher Fm, and Algoa Fm have agreed to be is our radio partners. We are in negotiations with the SABC and ETV for coverage of the entire event. SABC 2’s already broadcasted this event on primetime news. Our aim is to draw a much larger crowd than the estimated 60 000 people who attended the festival in 2008.
Please Note: Dates for this event to be confirmed.
