St Francis Bay MTB Challenge

The fifth St Francis MTB Challenge has improved and more exciting routes this year with some great prizes and lucky draws. Changes have been made to the route to especially reduce the amount of sand - this is probably the most scenic route in the Eastern Cape.

New this year is a MTB Day Ride on Friday 23 November 2012 at 18h00, followed by a MTB Night Ride at 19h30 from Port St Francis. The 18h00 event is aimed at juniors, novices and those using bicycles to commute to work and never compete. It will be an individual and team event, and local businesses are challenged to enter their relay teams. The Night Ride will be the normal individual event. The challenge is to see how many 5km laps you can start in 60 minutes. The track is pure MTB style consisting of jeep track, beach, footpaths, grass and a wooden walkway back to Port St Francis.

The 5km Fun Ride will follow the same track on Saturday 24 November 2012 at 10h00, hosted by the Rotary EarlyAct Club. This is for under 12's only, but parents are invited to enjoy the fun ride with their children. It is a great introduction to true MTB-ing.

The main event takes place on Sunday 25 November 2012 and the 15km, 30km and 70km events start and finish at the St Francis Links. This is an Eastern Cape MTB sanctioned race.
