The Umtali Country Lodge offers luxury accommodation, conference venues and hearty meals. This family resort is in walking distance of the natural warm springs and offers canoeing in the Orange River and hiking in mountains.
The Eastern Cape is a region blessed with a rich diversity of cultural and heritage attractions as well as many adventure-sport opportunities. Attractions vary from private nature reserves, Anglo Boer sites, warm water spas, fossil sites and 4x4, hiking and horse trails.
The Umtali Country Inn is the perfect base from which to soak in the countryside or participate in all the adventurous activities.
ACCOMMODATION
The Umtali Country Inn offers 33 luxury rooms all with en-suite bathrooms, underfloor heating, air-conditioning, tea/coffee making facilities, MNet and DSTV.
Please note we are not pet friendly.
Dining
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available on request. Sumptuous meals are served in front of the crackling log fires or outside at the swimming pool. Barbecues, afternoon tea in the garden or picnic baskets all add to the service that awaits you at the Umtali Country Inn.
CONFERENCES
The Umtali Country Inn offers two conference venues which accommodate from 5 to 150 delegates with ease and provide the ideal setting for meetings, seminars, product launches, weddings or fashion shows. The smaller venue has a whiteboard, 2 flipcharts, screen, overhead projector, video, TV and air-conditioning/heating. Upholstered chairs and proper conference tables are provided.
LOCATION & ATTRACTIONS
On the south bank of the Orange River lies Aliwal North, a popular inland resort. Situated on the "Friendly N6" running from Bloemfontein to East London, the Umtali Country Inn is the ideal stop over, linking up with both the Wild Coast route via Maclear and hence on to the Sunshine Coast Route and the famous Garden Route.
On the N6 running from Bloemfontein to East London, Aliwal North and its area has a range of attractions from the ski slopes of Ben McDhui to trout-filled streams, caves adorned with ancient rock art and canoeing on the Orange and Kraai Rivers. Come and experience the openness of the Karoo. From the buzzing cities, historical diversity, major art festivals and scenic beauty, the Eastern Cape offers it all. On the south bank of the Orange River lies Aliwal North, a popular inland resort famous for its hot sulphur springs. The venue and facilities was run down and the shower head in our bathroom badly installed and ineffective. However, the staff were super helpful and friendly and the food very tasty.
